The system's interface had finally shifted, offering Su Shun a prompt and a boost of one hundred experience points after eliminating an opponent. This indicated that the system's purpose within the game was to continually eliminate adversaries, with each elimination granting experience points that would accumulate and lead to leveling up. However, the exact utility of leveling up remained unclear.
"Congratulations, host, for reaching level LV1. You have been rewarded with a 98k Rifle Proficiency Card."
The system's clear and crisp voice echoed within Su Nan's mind once more, making it clear that upon leveling up, the system would bestow a reward.
Su Nan promptly opened his attribute panel to examine the changes, which were indeed minor but noticeable compared to before.
Host: Su Nan
Age: 22
Level: 1
Experience: 0/1000
Items: 98k Rifle Proficiency Card (Pending Use)
Account Balance: 0
Su Nan recalled that he had needed only one hundred experience points to level up, and thus, by eliminating an individual, he had ascended directly. The initial leveling process was relatively straightforward.
Currently, the 98k Rifle Proficiency Card piqued Su Nan's interest. It was a reward from the system, and upon tapping it, an introduction appeared.
"98k Rifle Proficiency Card"
Description: Upon use by the host, it significantly enhances the ability to utilize the Kar98k sniper rifle, reaching a level of mastery that is second to none.
Su Nan surmised the essence of the card and was intrigued by its purported magical effects. Could it truly empower his 98k to such an extent?
The 98k was one of the most popular sniper rifles in the game, with phrases like "landing with a 98k" becoming common parlance.
While it might not match the AW in terms of power, the AW was a rare find, and few players could lay hands on it during a match. The bolt-action sniper rifles, capable of headshot eliminations with a single shot, were undoubtedly more exhilarating than their semi-automatic counterparts.
Previously, Su Nan had enjoyed playing with the 98k but had not been particularly adept at it, with his shots often hinging on chance.
Without further ado, Su Nan activated the 98k Rifle Proficiency Card, believing that the truth would be revealed through action.
His primary concern was finding a 98k, as the game's outcome could turn grim without one.
The situation at the airport was still fluid, and Su Nan could not afford to waste time. He swiftly closed his attribute panel and moved to loot the belongings of the player he had just dispatched.
In the airport, unless a player met their demise immediately upon landing, a thorough search would likely yield some valuable items.
Su Nan's looting speed was nothing short of exceptional.
"Damn, a 98k!"
Upon opening the fallen player's backpack, Su Nan's eyes gleamed with excitement. It was as if his wish for a 98k had been answered by fate. What a generous soul to provide it.
Without delay, he claimed the 98k, along with several dozen 7.62mm rounds.
The player was not particularly well-equipped, but they were better off than Su Nan, who also acquired two first aid kits and a level two backpack, items he was in dire need of.
Regrettably, there was no scope to be found. A sniper rifle without a scope was useless.
Given that the game was still in its early stages, Su Nan could not afford to be choosy. He promptly equipped the red dot sight from his inventory, which, while not ideal, was a decent alternative.
Continuing his search on the upper floor, Su Nan's luck seemed to be off, as he failed to find a scope. However, he did manage to secure a level three backpack and a few additional first aid kits and energy drinks.
Having scoured the second floor, Su Nan descended the stairs.
"Da-da-da—"
Gunfire erupted as he reached the staircase, indicating an ambush. Fortunately, Su Nan's swift reflexes allowed him to retreat in time, keeping his health within safe limits.
He peered around the corner and spotted the cunning adversary waiting in the room diagonally across from the staircase.
Su Nan swiftly deployed his red dot-equipped 98k, aiming carefully. In the blink of an eye, he fired a shot.
"Bang!"
A crisp report echoed through the air, followed by a burst of green mist at the entrance, signifying a successful hit.
"Player sunan666 used the Kar98k to headshot and eliminate player zzzf235."
Another hundred experience points were added, with the system providing a prompt.
Su Nan could hardly believe his own performance. The shot had been executed flawlessly, from aiming to firing, in a seamless motion.
The precision of the headshot was nothing short of astounding.
It felt as though he had an intimate understanding of the 98k, as if he and the weapon were one. He could control it effortlessly, with a clear grasp of the aiming process, bullet velocity, and trajectory.
It was almost as if his actions were instinctual, with each shot finding its mark without a second thought.
Having escaped danger, Su Nan proceeded to loot the fallen player's belongings, which were meager, but included a level four backpack that Su Nan claimed. However, the coveted scope remained elusive.
The room had been picked clean, and it was evident that the entire floor had been thoroughly searched.
Su Nan noticed a figure fleetingly pass by the window, followed by the sound of gunfire. The opponent was a formidable player, expertly evading numerous bullets with their acrobatic movements.
"Bang!"
The rifle's barrel spat flames, and a deadly bullet sped towards its target, striking the player in the head with deadly accuracy.
A splash of blood marked the player's demise, as a level three helmet was no match for a well-placed 98k headshot.
"Player sunan666 used the Kar98k to headshot and eliminate player wh1te."
"Damn!"
Su Nan was genuinely shocked. It had been a moving target, yet he had managed to land a headshot with a single bullet, without needing to fire again.
Such skill was beyond mere luck.
Even the professional streamers and esports players he watched would struggle to guarantee such precision in similar circumstances, let alone hitting the more challenging headshot.
Su Nan was now a firm believer in the system's 98k Rifle Proficiency Card, which had proven to be extraordinarily effective.
He was confident that even if top players or streamers were to challenge him, they would find themselves outmatched in their handling of the 98k.
The rifle's accuracy was so impeccable that it felt as though he was cheating.
