..It was a horrible night.,I had barely gotten any sleep the night before and being forced to work a late shift in such a decrepit, slow running restaurant was not on my list of activities,,but someone had to do the dishes, sweep and mop the floors, clean the bathrooms, and- I sighed gently, pushing back my hair as the last customer approached me to pay. He was a well known customer here. A quiet yet amiable old man with a thick Busan accent and dialect.
,,"Ah-You're on your way home now?" I said with an exhausting cheer in my tone. "Yes yes..", The old man muttered as he normally did, "Here's the bill and money and whatever..".
I'd pick the bill up, noticing he was two dollars off..
I'll just pay it in..I thought to myself.
I'd pop the register out, putting the money and sneakily my own two dollars,,
"Alright Mr. Hwangbo, enjoy the rest of your night'~." I said softly. "Goodnight..!", He breathed, walking away. I hummed, getting back to work and-
"Now Suki,!", The old man had come back around, his voice now cheery and friendly,
"Do you happen to believe in wishes.." He said, leaning in as if he was going to tell me the world's biggest secret.
I rolled my eyes jokingly, "Mr. Hwangbo,! What are you on about?"
He smiled and hummed, pulling out dinky, random items from his pocket.I noticed 3 similarly matching tokens sprawled out in the random array of fuzz balls and crumples of receipts in his palm..
"Strange"... I mumbled brainlessly.
"Strange?" The old man questioned what he heard.
"Hmm?- Ah Mr. Hwangbo don't tell me you're going crazy !" I said teasingly as if I wasn't calling the poor man a fool.
He'd huff a breath of air, putting them back in his pocket as he scoffed and waved a hand back towards me."Fine..waste your time with work!" He'd mutter at me, opening the door and slowly exiting.
"Oh Mr. Hwangbo!-" I'd call after him, too late for him to hear me. "Tsk.. Good going Suki!" I'd mumble to myself, getting back to work.
I had begun to mop the floor, then I remembered I had left the sign on 'Open!'. I would sigh gently, placing the mop aside before walking to the front entry.
I'd flip the open sign, taking two steps over to the door to deadbolt it.
But of course in that moment, I looked at the moon and how the stars hung so delicately..it was a calming simplicity of life.
But the next thing I knew was my body reflexing away from the door with a jolt as a man scrambled to open the door.
Bewildered, I gathered the courage to quickly slam my body against the door. The key was half way in the lock, but it wouldn't be enough to keep him out. I'd grunt, my body being pushed harshly off the door as it was swung open.
The man frantically entered, shutting the door quickly and fully locking it.
I'd stand there, in complete disbelief.
"Sir-.." I'd hardly mumble as I watched him look out the window and empty street.
I would gather courage in a second to tell him to leave, "Sir, it's closing time. I would leave-"
I was cut off as he faced me in the dim restaurant light. He was drop dead gorgeous..His body tall, with black longish hair, his shirt hugged his body well too..
I'd snap out of it, noticing him staring at me with a dazed, almost disturbed, look.
He'd fix his composure, brushing back his hair, still seeming shaky as he looked in my eyes.
"I-" He'd swallow, his body trembling.
"Sir,,You don't seem alright..Do you need water or something?" I'd meekly say.
He'd clear his throat, beginning to speak, "I'm sorry for that.. was being chased and This was the closest place I saw.."
I'd nod, still cautious of him.
"That's awful.." I'd mumble, "But, I'm afraid I can't help you.." I would now say sternly.
He'd breathe, looking at me.
"I'll leave, but could I please have a sip of water first?" He'd say, smiling gently.
"Yes of course,," I'd say, hopping behind the counter.
I'd turn my body away from the man to retrieve water, which was probably one of the most idiotic things I've done in my life.
As soon as I was distracted from him, he'd lunge at me. He'd wrap his arm around my waist, taking a cloth up to my mouth and nose.
I'd scream, dropping the cup as I tried to defend myself. I'd elbow his side, while also trying to biting his hand..But as the scent from the cloth seeped into my nostrils, my body becoming weaker and dull, I heard him say..
"What's the Rush, Suki?"
