After the dress was finished, Claire out it on. She twirled with a giggle, feeling especially beautiful.

It was a classic ballgown, the hoop at the bottom. It was floor-length, of course, though sleeveless. Claire put on shoulder gloves that matched the lavender coloured dress. There was a sash at her waist where the dress poofed, tied in a bow with one end hanging down.

"You look beautiful." Claire's older sister said, applying makeup to her.

"It's all thanks to you,"

"Indeed, it is," she giggled.

Claire went down to the servants' quarters, quickly exiting without their notice. Her older sister was occupying their parents with nonsense planning and the like. Everything was going perfectly.

As Claire walked into the grand palace, she couldn't believe how familiar it felt. Nothing had changed from the last she was at a ball.

She was introduced to the court (other guests) and calmly walked down the stairs to the large ballroom.

The blonde was only slightly nervous now, as she saw the prince, Ciel Phantonhive, approach her. His (left)blue eye was sparkling, the other covered by an eyepatch.

"May I have this dance?" He asked with a bow, the whole room holding its breath.

Claire almost had a heart attack. "What do I do, what do I do?" She asked herself.

On instinct, she took his hand and followed him to the middle of the ballroom. She couldn't help but he thankful that the silk gloves kept her sweaty hands from touching his. That would be embarrassing.

She sighed and tried to recall the waltz that was playing. "Just follow my lead," he whispered, noticing her confused face.

Claire did so, which brought their bodies closer. Her heart raced.

"What is this?" She thought, "What is this feeling?"

"You look beautiful, Miss," the prince said, twirling the young girl.

Claire blushed, "T-that's very kind,"

"This can't be what I think it is," she thought, "I cannot fall in love with the prince!"
