This is a short story for my writing mutual's, Ph_ilippine_, 1K follower contest! She gave us wonderful themes including: Darkness, Morals, Friendship, Loss, Identity, Dreams.
For "The Episode of the Hallucinations of a Dragon" I chose Friendship, Darkness, Morals, Loss, Dreams. (All but Identity, but I'm sure some can argue I used it.)
My inspiration comes from the music of Berlioz's "The Episode of the Life of an Artist" as well as Debussy's "The Afternoon of a Faun." Literary inspiration from "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe, the cyclops scene from "The Odyssey," and dragon/gold sickness from "The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkien.
