As soon as Sophia touched the symbol, she felt a surge of energy course through her body. The air around her seemed to vibrate with an otherworldly power, and Aria's grip on her shoulder loosened.
Sophia took advantage of the distraction to break free from Aria's grasp. She spun around, her eyes locked on Aria's, and saw a flash of surprise and anger in them.
But Sophia didn't back down. She stood tall, her heart pounding in her chest, and faced Aria.
"What's going on, Aria?" Sophia demanded. "What kind of power do you have, and why are you using it to control me?"
Aria's eyes narrowed, and Sophia saw a glint of calculation in them. For a moment, Sophia thought she saw a flicker of fear, but it was quickly masked by a cold, calculating determination.
"I'm not using it to control you, Sophia," Aria said, her voice low and husky. "I'm using it to protect you. You don't understand the danger that's out there and the forces that are arrayed against us. But I do, and I'll do whatever it takes to keep you safe."
Sophia felt a shiver run down her spine as she looked at Aria. She didn't know what to believe, but she knew that she couldn't trust Aria completely.
"I don't want your protection, Aria," Sophia said, her voice firm. "I want the truth. What's going on, and what do you want from me?"
Aria's eyes flashed with anger, but Sophia stood her ground. She was determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, no matter what it took.
And then, suddenly, Aria's expression changed. Her eyes softened, and Sophia saw a glimmer of vulnerability in them.
"I want you, Sophia," Aria said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I want you to be mine, to be with me forever. And I'll do whatever it takes to make that happen."
Sophia felt a surge of desire at Aria's words, but she pushed it aside. She couldn't let her feelings cloud her judgment, not now.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Aria," Sophia said, trying to sound calm. "But I know that I don't want to be a part of whatever dark magic you're involved in. I want out, and I want it now."
Aria's eyes narrowed, and Sophia saw a flash of anger in them. But then, suddenly, Aria's expression changed again. She smiled a cold, calculating smile, and Sophia felt a shiver run down her spine.
"Very well, Sophia," Aria said, her voice dripping with menace. "You want out? I'll give it to you. But be warned: once you're out, there's no going back. You'll be on your own, and you'll have to face the consequences of your actions."
Sophia felt a surge of fear at Aria's words, but she stood her ground. She was determined to escape, no matter what it took.
And then, suddenly, Aria vanished. Sophia was left standing alone in the abandoned church, the only sound being the creaking of the old wooden pews.
Sophia took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. She knew that she had to get out of there fast. But as she turned to leave, she felt a hand on her shoulder.
It was Aria, her eyes gleaming with a strange intensity.
"You shouldn't have come here, Sophia," Aria said, her voice low and menacing. "You shouldn't have meddled in things you don't understand."
Sophia felt a surge of fear as she realized that she was trapped. Aria was still controlling her, and Sophia didn't know how to escape.
But then, suddenly, Sophia felt a strange sensation, like a buzzing in her mind. It was as if she was being connected to something or someone. The sensation grew stronger, and Sophia felt her mind expanding, as if she were accessing a part of her brain she never knew existed.
