"He is quite different from us. Whenever he looks at something, it's like he sees some other meanings.. why is there a need to dig so deep?"

"I can't understand him. He always explains things in such a weird way."

"Miss Oata, your child
can't accommodate."

Shou pressed his pillow tightly to drown out these voices echoing in his head in the middle of the night. But it wasn't helping, the things in his mind couldn't stop running. The night will be the last one he sleeps in the family house.

He had always stood out with his difference since his childhood. Whether it was his mentality or his actions, he was not like the others. What was so bad about this?

Everything was much easier when he was with his father. It was easy to accommodate... But after losing him, Shou leaves with the feeling, as if, he's not understood - even though his mother and sister Suzu are by his side.

They said it was ADHD. Whether true or not. Shou was no other than a 17-year-old young man who had difficulties competing to a new life throughout his life.

He was secretly glad that his mother was sending him to another school, but, in fact, it meant to be far away from his family. His mother encourages him not to worry about leaving, he's not a little kid after all.

What wiped away Shou's uneasiness about leaving was learning the fact that the school he was about to go is the same place where his father also educated in.

There was no longer any doubt in his mind. All he wants to do is to follow his father's footsteps and be like him. Society may not have accepted him until this age, but he is not about to give up. He will make his whole family, especially his father, proud and he couldn't be more excited about it.

Slowly, his eyes are closing. When he falls asleep, he is completely unaware that this will be his last night on Earth...

(...And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that
they'd understand.

When everything's made to be broken,
I just want you to know who I am.

He wakes up feeling a strange pressure on him. The first thing he realizes as soon as he shakes off the stupor of sleep is that he's not in his room. Where the hell is this place?

He found himself sitting in a leather but very comfortable dark blue sofa across from a table. His mother was sitting in front of him, and a woman she had never seen before was sitting at the table.

In fact, the woman was unlike anyone he had ever seen before. Her appearance was literally radiating light around him. Even though they had never met before, she felt a sincere sense of friendship towards him.

"Am I dreaming?" Laughing in surprise, he scratched the back of his head with a hand and asked, "How did we get here?"

"This school's registration methods are slightly different, Shou." It was his mother who answered.

"We haven't had human students in a long time!" The woman sitting at the table said cheerfully.

Shou's pupils dilated, filled with joy and surprise. "What, there are non-humans here too??"

"Miss Kyokou will tell you everything, Shou." his mother added as she stands up. "I have to go now."

"Send loves to Suzu for me!" After a long and tight hug and saying goodbye, her mother left the room and then the school.

Shou turned with curious eyes to the woman whose name he learned was Kyokou. "I'm Shou Oata, nice to meet you ma'am!"

"Oh, I already know you." She smiled warmly. "As much as to know that you're dying to know where you are now, right?"

Shou's response was to nod enthusiastically.

"Welcome to Momoyama Highschool! Forget everything you know so far because it won't even have anything to do with the schools you've been to."

"I'm actually glad about that."

"You came in the middle of the semester, but don't worry, luckily you're not a senior yet. You still have plenty of time."

"So I can make friends, right?"

"There's no doubt about it! Someone like you can form relationships quickly here, but it's worth keeping in mind that some people don't like humans very much... Don't take it personally."

The questioning look that had just appeared on Shou's face returns. Even though she is excited, she cannot understand what Kyokou is talking about.

"Momoyama High School is an interdimensional school, Shou. You can find different creatures together here. The main goal of your school is to educate collectively and strengthen inter-racial relations."

"Really??"

"You heard right. You can find all kinds of creatures, from satyrs to cyclops, from elves to mummies."

"God, that's amazing!!!!!" Shou, as usual, must have shouted a little too much which makes Kyokou startle slightly.

"What about you? Are you human like me?"

"I am a fairy."

"Oh, I should have guessed.." Now everything became clear. Kyokou's loving energy and the light she spread around were unmissable.

"You can think of me as a guide responsible for the students. Come to me whenever necessary, don't hesitate. Especially in the first weeks."

"All right, ma'am!" Shou leans forward in greeting.

"Well, you can go now. It's obvious from your eyes that you're already impatient."

Shou's eyes were shining.

"The key I will give you has the location of your room written on it. I want you to explore the campus yourself. Don't get into trouble, though!"

Notes:

Shou, who was called "incompatible" throughout his whole life; He is sent by his family to Momayama High School, which is full of interdimensional, non-human mystical creatures.
