LAYLA TATE always believed that she meant nothing, she spent her whole life in and out of foster care until she was was 18 and ran away from her latest foster home, the worst one yet.

Her most recent foster parents were awful, abusive people. They'd get drunk and beat her until she couldn't move, the only thing she could do was lay there and cry.

After she escaped from her nightmare she ended up living in her car that she'd gotten from her best friend, Alex, a few years back, it was a goodbye present of sorts because she hadn't seen him since.

Layla had gotten a job and finally finished school, and was now living in a ran down apartment building, it was a little nasty but better than sleeping in her car.

She graduated top of her class, teachers bragged about her, students were envious, and she was finally okay — and she was even better when she received a call giving her a internship at Seattle Grace Hospital.

She packed up what little she had and left to finally get the life she wanted, that she deserved—meeting the love of her life, and reconciling with her best friend.
