Journal Entry 1
I'm Catherine. I live in a small town called Georgeville. All my life I feel like I've had some type of adventure to follow to keep me on the right track. But right now, there's nowhere to go. I've done everything I want to do and gone everywhere I want to go. I just don't know what to do with my life. My parents don't know that I feel this, I hide it the best I can so they don't worry. They do that a lot. Like, a couple days ago, I told them I had a minor headache. They wouldn't stop looking up things that I might have or wanting to take me to the doctors office. Well, there's my parents for ya. I need to find something to do to help me find a road to follow.

I get up from my bed and put my book on the side table. What to do... I thought, as I walk out of my room to ask my mom the question because if you don't know what to do you count on your mom to give you ideas.
"Hmm." My mother pondered for a moment. "I have some chores that need to be done," she finally answers with a slightly smug tone.
"No mom, what should I do that's actually fun?" I ask, getting a bit annoyed with her answer.
"Chores aren't fun to you?" She laughs. Mom jokes are so weird. "Well, maybe you could go hang out with your friend. What's her name? Oh ya! Lindsey! Why don't you go hang out with her?"
Lindsey is my 'Best Friend', I don't really have any friends except for maybe her. Lindsey is the librarian at my favorite library and I talk to her a lot because she likes books about as much as I do.
"Ya, maybe I'll go hang out with Lindsey. Be back later," I say bluntly as I leave the house on the way to the library, walking on the sidewalk and enjoying the fresh air as I walk past house after house. I stop after a little while and look back and forth to make sure no one is looking. When I know the coast is clear, I look at the old chain-link fence and crawl through the secret passage way, which is just a teared apart opening at the bottom. I walk through bushes and weeds to finally arrive the library after going through my little short cut. If I didn't go that way, I would have to walk for at least another mile to go around the neighborhood.
I walk around the back of the small red building to arrive the grand front doors. By grand front doors I mean huge doors, the tallest living person could walk through on their tip-toes.
I walk into the library and arrive the front desk which is where Lindsey works. I spot her and smile while waving. "Hi Lindsey, how are you?" I ask casually.
She waves back as she returns the smile. "Miss Cat, I'm wonderful. Would you like me to introduce a nice novel I think you would like?" Lindsey asks, pushing her smooth, black hair behind an ear. She is an older lady, but that doesn't mean I don't consider her a good friend of mine. She grew up and was born in Tokyo. Her family moved to America when she was just a young child.
"That would be great!" I exclaim with a grin as I pulled a book out of my bag, its title reading 'Tomorrow'. "This was a really good book, you always know what to give me."
She smiles warmly. "I'm very glad you liked it. Now follow me." She leads me through the labyrinth of bookshelves to finally arrive the vintage books. Lindsey looks through the spines of the books until she lands her finger upon the one she was looking for. "Here you go, Miss Cat." She hands me the book and I take it from her.
As I'm following her to the check out desk, I look the book cover up and down. I notice that it's pretty old and may need a bit fixing up, I can help with that. On the book cover, it is mostly worn out so all I can see is a bit of green and lots of brown. "This book looks really interesting," I tell Lindsey when she scans the book. "'Wallflower', very nice. This almost reminds me of myself."
"Well, I hope you enjoy it," said Lindsey as she handed me the book with a liberated smile.
