VERONAThe concept of marriage has never been a priority for me, as I have failed to see its practical significance in my life. Nevertheless, this has never posed a problem for me as I am currently satisfied with my present circumstances.
"I see. So, you're suggesting that I should marry the crown prince of this country instead of you, my dear princess?" I replied in a rather disinterested tone, although deep down, I was starting to feel annoyed by the conversation.
"I...I can't do it" she replied, staring at me with pleading eyes ngunit pinakatitigan ko lamang ito at inantay na masabi nya ang rason kung bakit kailangan na ako pa ang dapat niyang hingan ng pabor na ito sa dinami-rami ng taong kilala niya. She has connections and better options to fix her mess but she chose me instead. What a strange princess.
"Well, at least give him a chance. You haven't even formally met him yet, have you?" I tried to reason with her. After all, it was a political marriage.
"I trust you enough to swear it under the royal family name," she said, trying to hold my hands with desperation in her eyes. This girl is unbelievable! Halos wala pa ngang 2 oras kaming magkakilala at talagang may rebelasyon pa ata ito. I believe we had a connection with the Royal family but not to the point we will be part of the inner circle of the royalties, as far as I know. The princess is from the country of Ermeta and that's where I was born
"Princess, are you absolutely sure of what you're talking about?" I asked her incredulously. I couldn't believe someone would swear something under the royal family's name, especially someone like me who didn't want to be part of their world.
"I beg you, please. I have a deep reason as to why I am asking you for a favor, Vena," she said, looking me straight in the eyes.
I took a deep breath and removed my hands from hers. "Don't get me wrong, Your Highness, but we are not even acquainted. You only know me because of my name. I don't understand the range of your reason that you have to go this far just to ask me to marry the prince," I said, trying to be respectful despite her behavior.
"One more thing, you're the princess and we cannot change the fact that you're betrothed to the prince. So, no matter how much you plead, nothing will change," I said firmly. Hoping she would understand
Well, for starters, we were at an art gallery convention for a good cause - women's empowerment. The proceeds from the convention would be donated to domestic violence victims and any form of abuse. I was called upon to give a speech in front of everyone since I was one of the sponsors, and I guess that's where the princess noticed me and had the foolish idea to bring me into her mess. It was then that she grabbed my arm and pulled me into a nearby cafe. She proceeded to reveal all of her secrets to me.
I was deeply invested and intrigued by her reason as to why she went to such lengths. I just didn't want to ask, as it might give the princess false hope.
"Are you okay?" I asked her, concerned, as she clung to me tightly. When I followed her gaze, everything suddenly made sense to me.
"I'm pregnant, Vena."
