Audrey's pov

My life had only known chaos. I was familiar with it; it was literally a part of me, except for my best friend, whom I got to know after a British family adopted me and put me in their nearby elementary school, Ivy. Ivy was peace itself. I like to believe that is the reason why she and I became immediate best friends.

Opposites attract.

With Ivy came her twin brother George. He was automatically—and, somewhat, unfortunately—a big part of my life, too. He was the annoying 'my best friend's brother', and it was actually surprising how much time I still spent with him even though we couldn't really stand each other.

George's life was chaos, too.

Similars oppose.

I was 19 when I moved from the cold in Wisbech to the sunny state of Arizona in the United States for a degree in Engineering Management, inspired by George's racing career. I never told him he did, but I can still hear his neverending comments about how he had been my inspiration. He just knew it was.

Moving to the United States meant I left my best friend behind—and the peace that came with her, too. Chaos surrounded me again, and I sought ways to make the chaos make sense. After three years, I combined the study with an extra two-year degree in Software Engineering in the hope that I would have too little time to think about the chaos.

In those years, I lost contact with Ivy. It was mutually, just too little time, too much of a time difference. But still, a greater heartbreak than any guy had ever given me. And this time, I didn't have my best friend to fix it.

The study, however, gave me the opportunity to have this current internship, one at the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile. In this internship, I covered Formula E from January until July, and to gain even more experience, I covered Formula 4 as well. There, I met Susie Wolff, who pulled the strings together to give me the chance to cover F3, F2, and F1 during their last race of the season.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is also the last race before I graduate in December, and Susie was more than willing to give me an entire tour through the paddock and even hinted about having a formal conversation after Sunday's races.

We were about to pass the Mercedes garage when,

"Audrey?"

I turn around to the sound of my name, and it is as if I go back in time as I see the blonde Britain standing a mere 5 meters away from me.

"Ivy!" I say and run to her. She opens her arms and embraces me in a tight hug as soon as my arms are around her. "Oh my God."

"What... what are you doing here?" She asks, takes a step back, and looks me up and down. "You look amazing."

"And so do you," I compliment her back. "I am here with Susie. I'm doing my graduation internship with the FIA, and she invited me this weekend."

Ivy looks surprised, but the smile is a recognizable one, "I am so proud of you. That means you'll also run into George at some point this weekend; we should really catch up if you have the time."
