"You're just not paying enough attention to me.." It had come out of the blue.
"And that's a problem why..?" Vincent says coldly.
"What do you even mean by that?!" Mannon raises her voice.
"If you wanted my attention you should have said so. Besides i've been busy with work-"
"Dammit this is exactly why I want to break up! You never have time for me! You don't spoil me like a boyfriend should! You treat our relationship like a business contract!!" Mannon's voice is full of frustration, tears bubbling in her eyes threatening to burst.
'Isn't that what this is? I was never interested in you in the first place. ' Vincent thinks to himself.
"Hello?! Are you even listening?! Why aren't you comforting me?! Why aren't you trying to win me over?!" Mannon yells her anger boiling over as she stood up from the couch.
Vincent nearly laughs a smirk coming to his face. "Is that what you expected? For me to beg you to stay? Sorry to disappoint but I don't care enough to do that."
"You.. Oh you..!" She seethes her hands clutching the sides of her dress.
"Get out of my apartment Mannon."
"You're a piece of shit you know?! Good luck finding a woman like me again! Your going to die alone you-" Mannon shouted as Vincent pushed her out the door, before she can finish her sentence he slammed the door in her face.
_
Vincent looks at the paper and the job interview that he circled. He had been let go so now he had to find a new position. It most likely had something to do with Mannon she must have gone crying to her father to have him fired. There happened to be an opening for a waiter at a restaurant thankfully so he wouldn't have to call for another favor from a friend. It was damning for his pride to have to rely on anyone in the first place.
He had called in Tuesday and his possible employer had agreed to the interview taking place the following day.
Now here he was standing in front of the restaurant, not punctual but early.
Le corps de Vénus, The body of Venus, the sign of the resturant read. There had been rumors that the chef had opened the restaurant for (and even went as far as to name it after) his muse aka lover. The restaurant was popular for it's smoked meats and had opened just over two years ago. Vincent had done his research before he called to work there.
Vincent checked the watch on his wrist. 20 minutes before the interview, should he continue waiting outside or knock on the door? It's not open yet and the probability of his employer being there was less then 20%...
He decided to just wait till opening opting to take a small smoke break while waiting.
After a cigarette or two he checked his watch again and frowned to see it was past the time he was supposed to be interviewed. Vincent's eye twitches. He hates when people are late.
Hesitating for a moment before deciding there's a chance that his employer may be there after all he knocks on the door.
Crashes inside the restaurant follow. After a few minutes the door opens and a big-statured man looks at him.
"Oh gosh! Sorry I must have overslept past the time!" He has messy auburn hair, that looks like it hasn't been brushed in years and green soft eyes, two moles decorate his cheeks. He's still dressed In his casual clothes and looks like he just woke up.
'How unprofessional..' Vincent thinks to himself.
"Is this going to be a common occurrence? The restaurant opening late?" Vincent asks.
"Hopefully not! I need to get a better alarm clock.." He mumbles the last part to himself.
"Vincent Charbonneau."
"What?"
"I'm introducing myself."
"O-oh! Uh Rody Lamoree!" Rody offers his hand to which Vincent declines.
"I know who you are. Your my future employer of course I looked into you."
"That's a bit much don't you think?" Rody blinks.
"No I don't think it is."
"So serious.. You don't have to be so uptight Vince!" Rody chuckles awkwardly.
Vincent raises an eyebrow but ignores it. "May I come in?"
"Oh yeah! Uh sorry!" Rody steps out of the doorway allowing Vincent to walk into the restaurant. "Just give me a moment please!" Rody says walking up stairs.
Vincent now takes the opportunity to examine the restaurant closer. Vincent sighs internally at the decor. It's rather simple and not classy looking at all. What kind of restaurant is this?
Rody comes back down dressed in a chef's uniform his hair a bit more tidy but still as messy as ever.
"So do you have a resume..?" Rody hums.
"Of course I do." he hands it over.
Rody looks it over for a minute his eyes narrowing.
"Huh.. So you went to culinary school? Why are you applying for a position as a waiter and not a chef?" Rody asks.
"That isn't your business." Vincent nearly snaps at him.
"Geez.. Cold.. But okay I get it touchy on the subject.." Rody scratches the back of his neck. "Well your pretty impressive- I-i Mean your resume's impressive! You've had experience in the service industry and a lot of jobs over a long period of time!"
Rody says not really taking in the rate of which Vincent got those jobs. "Though I do hope you'll be a bit more relaxed towards the costumers!"
"Relaxed..?"
"Yeah like being friendly!"
"Of course." Vincent blinks.
"Okay! Cool! You're hired!" Rody pats Vincent's back nearly knocking him over.
"That's it..?"
"Mhm! I can see you'll be a valuable employee!"
"Yes Chef." Vincent addresses him formally.
"Call me Rody!"
Vincent ignores that and continues "When do I start?"
"Does today work?"
