Chapter 9
"I can't believe we get to patrol as a group! This is so cool!" Roo cheered, pumping her fist in the air.
Kita smiled down at the young Hero in training. Amira Sanchez, AKA Roo, was a first-year student at UA, Tauren's student no less. In fact, it had been the Bull Hero who had recommended Roo to her. Kita had taken her on just a month before she was assigned the CRC case. Sometimes she debated whether it was even safe to keep Roo on with everything going on with the villainous group. There was no doubt members of the Aries Agency would be heavily targeted. Then again, who better to keep Roo safe than Kita herself?
Roo's dark purple eyes gleamed with excitement, her straight black hair blowing behind her in the brisk autumn breeze. Her light brown face was the only visible skin in her costume, contrasting sharply with its dark tones. Kita couldn't help but notice how different Roo's first Hero costume was from her own. While Kita had always prioritized lightweight fabric and mobility, opting for lighter colors accented with black markings and accessories, Roo's costume was a striking contrast. Roo's suit was a full-body ensemble in black and plum, with strategically placed lightweight black armor plating. Even her powerful black kangaroo tail was adorned with sleek armor plates, enhancing both her protection and style.
"That's the spirit Roo!" Snowy said, walking on Roo's other side. Her long white hair was braided down her back. The rounded arctic fox ears sticking out from the top of her head almost blended in with her hair.
Other than Roo, this girl was the youngest and newest member of Kita's agency. The Arctic Hero: Snowy, was 19 years old, having graduated not even a year ago from one of Japan's lesser-known Hero schools. Kita would never forget the fierce determination in the girl's deep blue eyes during her interview. Snowy had been over the moon when she discovered there was a Hero agency dedicated to Pros with animal Quirks and had her heart set on joining the Aries Agency ever since she heard of it. Although technically Snowy's fox mutation was just a part of her actual Quirk.
Her Hero costume consisted of a white form-fitting bodysuit made from a high-tech fabric that provided protection while allowing for flexibility. Icy blue patterns resembling snowflakes and frost lined her sides, shoulders, and thighs, creating an elegant yet powerful look. The most notable aspect of her costume was the large blue snowflake over her chest. A silver utility belt hung from her hips, no doubt holding medical supplies.
The trio walked down the bustling streets of Osaka, surrounded by towering skyscrapers, colorful billboards, and a sea of pedestrians. The air was filled with the sounds of chattering crowds, the distant hum of traffic, and the occasional chirping of birds. The aroma of street food wafted through the air, tempting passersby with the scent of takoyaki and okonomiyaki from nearby stalls. Trees lining the sidewalks had begun to turn shades of red, orange, and yellow, their leaves rustling gently in the cool breeze, adding a vibrant touch of autumn to the urban landscape.
"Oh man, I hope we catch someone breaking the law so I can pounce on them!" Roo exclaimed eagerly.
"You should hope that no one breaks the law. Peace should be a Hero's ultimate desire," Kita lightly lectured her protégé.
"Oh, right. That makes sense," Roo's voice grew a shade quiet, realizing her mistake.
Kita reached over and patted the girl's back firmly. "It's alright. I remember being that age and getting excited to practice what I'd learned in Heroics class."
Roo smiled up at her, confidence restored.
"Hey Aries," Snowy's voice high-pitched and reminiscent of a bird's song captured Kita's attention. "Did you see on the news about that man getting attacked and losing his Quirk?"
