Clara paced around her room as she thought about everything that went down earlier. She didn't know what to think. She hadn't heard anything from her brothers yet and she was frustrated.
She thought by now Romeo or Emilio would have come up and spoken to her but no. I'm only a matter of days the dynamic in the household had shifted.
Andreas, who was once her favourite brother, had tried desperately to mend what he had broken but Clara couldn't look at him the same anymore.
She had told him to get off but he didn't let her go. How could he do something like that after preaching on and on about how she was free. How she had a choice in everything. Yet he didn't get of her when asked.
But on the other hand Ricardo had stopped halting at her every time he saw her. His face remained mostly passive but he didn't seem to want to slam her against the wall and beat her till she was bloody.
Lorenzo and Romeo had been working more and more but now she guessed she knew why. If Lorenzo was the leader there was no doubt that Romeo and Andreas were not involved. They were always cooped up in his office whispering away. But she didn't know about the twins. There was no way in hell Emilio could possibly be apart of the mafia. He was a sweetheart.
He couldn't hurt a fly let alone a human. Right?
Clara let out a groan as she ruffled her hair with a huff. She sat at her desk opening her computer. She opened up her search engine before just sitting there her hand hovering over the keys.
She slowly typed in her question not even sure if she really wanted to know the answer. As she read on her eyes grew wide with horror and she felt the overwhelming need to throw up.
No way Lorenzo did any of this. No way her Lorenzo did any of this. She grabbed a notebook ripping out a page before writing down a list.
She would get to the bottom of this. She took a few deep breaths clenching her jaw before marching towards her door. She opened the door filled with determination before she walked straight into Romeo who had his fist raised to knock.
It seemed as though in an instant every inch of confidence she had was gone as she immediately took three steps back, her jaw unclenched and her hands went flying up to her chest.
Romeo also took a step back before awkwardly scratching his neck. "Uhm... could you please follow me into the office?" He asked softly as he gestured towards Lorenzo's office.
Clara nodded far too scared to open her mouth and retaliate. But as they walked her head began to spin. Would they kill her for knowing their secret? Or worse... what if they cut off her tongue?!
She shook her head shaking away the thoughts as she sneaked a peak at Romeo. His eyes were hardened trained on the hallway in front of him. It seemed as though he had a million thoughts running through his head yet at the same he was completely blank. As though he had hieroglyphics instead of eyes.
It started to feel as though google was the worst place to consult as now all that ran through her head was the horrible atrocious crimes her brothers may have committed for the sake of meaningless income.
Romeo had his fists clenched as he walked almost like a programmed robot there only to take Clara to and from her destination. He didn't want to show her what he was thinking because what he was thinking was a mess.
How would she ever feel safe with them ever again? They had been telling her over and over again that she was safe yet here they were, monsters in her eyes.
They hurt others, sometimes innocents to cover their own asses. How would Clara ever forgive them for that?
They reached the office standing still for just a moment before Romeo slowly opened the door. Clara walked in first her eyes fixed on Lorenzo with a determined expression. She wasn't going to show them an ounce of fear.
