Nixie lay in her bed, wondering just what she could do to alleviate her boredom. Unlike regular teenagers her age, she wasn't allowed to do things like go out with her friends, play sports or whatever other teen stuff people her age did. It wasn't because of strict parents or bad grades either, Nixie was relatively good at studies. Her parents weren't exactly your ideal parents though...

Having nothing else to do, Nixie got out of bed and shuffled towards her phone kept on the study table. She had wanted to stop using her phone so much, but she didn't have much of a choice for wasting her time either way... Suffering from an auto-immune disorder was no joke. Her immune system was killing her platelets which caused her to lose blood much faster than a regular person. Her immune system, meant to defend her, was killing her from the inside out. What had her doctors called it... 'Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura'. That didn't help cure anything though. "YAY, the doctors managed to name my condition!" Nixie thought while unlocking her phone. She first scrolled through her notifications and saw that she had one from the calendar app. "Weird", Nixie thought as she checked the notification. Well, apparently her friends Akki, Viata and Ravi were coming over today... She'd finally be able to talk to her friends in real life after about a month...

They had planned the meet-up on this day because Nixie's family had to go out for the night... They had planned a sleepover and a bunch of other activities solely to try and cheer Nixie up. And sure enough, Nixie's mother walked into Nixie's room and told her that they were going out now and would be back by tomorrow morning. Looked like their sleepover was going to happen after all! Nixie walked her family towards the door. She waited near the window, and the moment her family car pulled out of the driveway she called Akki, Viata and Ravi over. Akki quickly showed up, but Viata said that she'd take some time to reach. After all, Viata was an aspiring scientist... Her schedule was quite hectic. Ravi was the same... He wasn't a med student like Viata, but still a university student, nonetheless.

"Did you watch the news today?" Akki asked Nixie. Nixie simply shook her head. Akki started explaining about some political stuff, but Nixie wasn't exactly interested in politics, so she zoned out. Then Akki said something surprising. "Also, they found out who was behind all those missing person cases that were going on since last year... Remember T who lived a block away?" Nixie again shook her head. "Well, Viata did tell us about meeting him once... Remember her remark about T's girlfriend having inhumanly pale skin? It was similar to yours..." Akki trailed off, realizing that he had just made a reference to Nixie's anemia, something he visibly regretted. "Ok, so?" Nixie replied with, not wanting the conversation to die out. "Well, the cops are trying to track down both T and his girlfriend... Apparently, both are considered armed and dangerous." "So, we have two potential killers on the loose in the vicinity. That's a really good note to start our day with." Nixie responded. Akki lowered his head in shame and said quietly, "I just thought I'd tell you; you know...". Nixie simply laughed and said, "It's fine lol, now what do we do while we wait for Viata and Ravi?".

Akki grabbed the TV remote despite Nixie's protests not to do so... She really wanted to decrease her screen time. She relented in the end however and let Akki watch something on the TV. She then leaned on Akki, a usual routine for her. She saw him, Ravi and Viata as family after all, and she considered this okay in her book. "So, how long has it been?" Akki asked. "Well, a week without sleep now..." Nixie trailed off. Insomnia was yet another one of the various conditions she suffered from. Akki's phone then lit up, his notification ringtone playing. "I thought you said that you'd keep your phone on silent for today" Nixie said as Akki got up from the couch to check his messages. "Well, I didn't mute you, Viata or Ravi for obvious reasons, and seeing that you're right in front of me and your phone is right next to where mine was kept, Viata or Ravi must have sent the message." Akki mused. "Nixie hear this: Viata's coming in 10 minutes, and she's bringing pizza for lunch." Akki then said, visible joy slowly morphing his face into a smile. Nixie returned the smile, also ecstatic to have some pizza after about 5 months.
