Or: Scott's obsession with legends

(Tw: Scott's trauma, Trauma, Ptsd, Injury Description, Angst)

Scott slouched over the table as he looked at the book before him. Page 934: Scott of Chromia. He had always been fascinated with legends of the old empires, but especially the Empires of his two namesakes, Scott of Rivendell and Scott of Chromia. It just felt right, and familiar...

He turned his focus back to the book, it was talking about how after some time Scott left Chromia, going to adventure once more. It read:

"Scott sighed as he looked out over Chromia. He never meant to be a ruler, he just wanted to adventure. But the moment he settled down in his quaint little house, more people came. He had to take care of them, curse his stupid morality code.

But even during all that, he sometimes wondered what it would feel like to be out adventuring again. Looking out over the Empire he had created, that was exactly what he decided to do.

He appointed multiple people to form a council that ruled over Chromia, so the residents would be safe in his absence. Then he packed his stuff, left a small note in his first house and went out to go adventuring once again.

But he didn't leave without planning to say goodbye, he put out a small scavenger hunt on the way out.

Then he started adventuring once more, traveling near and far and reuniting with his Llama friend turned human, Owen! The other Emperors at that time, were huddled around a letter. Scott still had one story to tell, a story he had refused to tell before. The story of his golden eye.

It was another of the many mysteries that Scott held close to him.

Until then. The letter that the Emperors were so focused on read:

'Hey everyone!

Did you all really think I would just leave? Nope! I refused to tell a story before, and it's a story that you all deserve to hear.

But, I'm not just giving the story up. So, I have prepared a scavenger hunt.

-Scott of Chromia

PS. Your first hint is: "Flower Fields by the windmill of color"'

Step by step, clue by clue the Emperors figured out the scavenger hunt. In the end they came to a lavishly colored cave, hanging candles from the ceiling and walls. Cautiously they walked in, wary of any mobs. Then, they stepped into a small cave room. The most obscure colors are lazily thrown around as decoration.

And in the middle, standing there smiling sheepishly...

Was Scott.

They ran over and hugged him, while he laughed. Oh had he missed this, the hugs and laughter.

"Well I have a story for you guys!" He said, grinning.

Everyone quickly sat down, his stories were the best!

"I was out adventuring like usual, when in a village I heard about a temple with a bejeweled Skull in it. So, me being an amazing adventurer and explorer, I went to get my hands on it.

After some days I arrived at the temple with the Skull. I entered, and after swiftly making my way through the temple I got my hands on the prized possession.

I sat outside in my camp inspecting it, nothing seemed out of the ordinary so I just went to bed. Wrong idea.

When I woke up my vision was so bad, I couldn't see out of my right eye. Then I looked at the skull once more. Where it once had one, crimson gem... It now had an icy blue one as well, the exact shade of my eye.

I searched for decades to find a way to get my eye back, and in the end I found a capable wizard. He didn't want to help me at first, but when I showed him the skull he became a lot more helpful. He said he would help me if he got to keep the skull. Taking into account the problems the thing had caused me, I just wanted to get rid of it. 'which also explains how it got in agatha's basement' Anyway! He gave me a weird mixture and I went to sleep. The next day, my eyesight was back. I ran to the river, but it wasn't my eye. It was the yellow one. I also lost my original fedora then... Huh. Oh well, that's how I got my eye!"

After Scott's story all the Emperors wished him well and said their goodbyes. Then, he traveled near and far, to the land of pirates, the land of rats or the land of where fate is in different hands than yours. It didn't matter. He was out adventuring again.

After that, everything known about him fades. Many say that Scott of Chromia lived a happy life and died at an old age, surrounded by his findings. Others claim that he had the same fate as his namesake, Scott of Rivendell.

But, this concludes the Legend of Scott of Chromia, may the color king rest in peace.'

Scott couldn't help but feel like something was missing, like a part of the story was cut out. "Hey Scott, you've sat here for at least four hours! Go eat something, do a quest and research more later alright?"

Martyn's voice shook Scott out of his thoughts. Martyn sounded so familiar, so much like family... But Martyn wasn't family. His voice also reminded him of an old sheriff or something? He wasn't sure.

It was at the tip of his tongue, but the answer didn't come.

"What are you reading anyway?" Martyn's voice sounded again.

He finally looked up, only to see Martyn standing in the doorway of the library. Quickly he held up the book.

"Book of legends of the Empires?"

"Yeah, I always had a fascination for Rivendell and Chromia for some reason. As Well as the Lifeseries myth."

He didn't notice the way Martyn rubbed his hands together as if it was cold, the way his cheek glowed slightly purple as if fragments of his soul.

He didn't notice the way Martyn's eyes glowed a slight purple, before the purple turned to green and the glowing faded away.

He didn't notice, didn't notice the green streak shortly appearing in Martyn's hair.

Martyn shook it off and nodded before grabbing Scott's arm and dragging him away...
