Clay, Floyd, and Branch walked in the police department with their water bottles. Branch had a idea of why John asked them to come, but the other two had no idea what was going on. They saw JD, in casual clothes rather than his uniform. Talking to the officer working at the front desk, she was a little old, grey streak in her black, curled hair, but she was still very pretty.
"Okay, so your Vacation is approved for July 27th to the 30th." The woman said, looking up at him with a smile. Then, she looked behind his shoulder and her eyebrows knitted together in a curious way. "Are those your guests?"
John looked over his shoulder and grinned. "Brothers!" his word, though only one, was boisterous.
"John!" Branch said in a sarcastic tone, mocking his brother's excitement.
John rolled his eyes and shook his head, "Why do you always kill my joy."
Branch shrugged nonchalantly. "You must be humbled."
"Little jerk."
"What are we doing here John?" Clay asked, he sounded like he wanted to be anywhere but there.
"Follow me boys, we will be preparing Clay for his wedding."
"We're doing what." Clay asked, not finding any part of this amusing.
John opened the door, and Branch sighed, knowing his suspicions were right. It was the start of July, and it had gotten harder to wear long sleeves in the hot weather. So his brother had recognized what the spider bite gave him.
"No." Clay denied, trying to walk away, unfortunately John Dory stopped him.
"Yes, now, get in there and start stretching. We're going to make you look great for your honeymoon."
Branch heard Floyd chuckle as John shoved the boys in the room and shut the door.
"First of all, Viva loves me exactly how I am now, why are you trying to change that? And second, the wedding is in three weeks, you are insane if you think ill get any better than this within that time."
Now that Branch thought about it, Clay was never the attractive one. That was always Bruce, despite being one of the shorter brothers, Branch remembered him always talking about girl problems. It's practically the only thing he remembered about him. But Clay, he never got attention from girls. When he saw his college photo, he'd changed a lot, but not enough to keep a girl like Viva. It was then when Branch remembered Satin talking about something called 'girlfriend air', and it clicked. The only reason Clay looked decent now was probably because of viva.
Branch laughed rudely and looked away when Clay glared at him. "You shouldn't be laughing, look at your arms!"
Clay's eyes went to Branch's arms to try and make his point, expecting to see his old thin arms.
Clay's eyes widened and his voice was silenced. "Did you start steroids or something?"
Branch blushed in embarrassment and tried to cross his arms protectively. "Why does everyone think I do drugs?"
Floyd gave Branch a knowing look and smiled. "I think it started when he started high school, that's when he got his growth spurt."
John tilted his head and looked at Branch, "Now that I look at him, you look way older than 15."
Branch unfolded his arms and shook them softly. "Guys, we're here for Clay, remember?"
John turned back to Clay. "That's right, and right after you stretch, we'll do some warm ups on the tread mill,"
Clay tilted his head back and groaned. "You haven't been this bossy since I lived with you."
John pinched his finger and thumb and rubbed them together, "See this?"
