It took a few minutes before the awkwardness set in. Ominis and I were still sat in silence as the words hung over our heads. I wasn't sure when to let go however, as Ominis was still looking down."You can let go of my hands now." He spoke and I noticed the slight teasing tone of his voice. I quickly retracted my hands, tipping over his cup in the process. My eyes widened, as I searched for a handkerchief in my trousers. When I finally found one, I started dabbing Ominis' arm and his chest.
Ominis grabbed my wrist with his left hands as he raised his wand with his right.
"I'm alright." He flicked his wrist and the tea droplets floated off of his skin and the fabric of his clothes.
I retracted my hand once more. "I am SO SO SO sorry." I said sheepishly.
"You can't seem to get your hands off of me." He teased. I could see, though, that it was his way of lightening the mood.
I smiled, "Ah, still as humble as ever."
-
"Rose!" Sirona exclaimed when she saw me and I greeted her with a hug.
"What brings you here?" She asked. I worked at the Three Broomsticks during my summers at Hogwarts. I stayed at a room at no cost thanks to Sirona. I was extremely grateful for her kindness.
"I'm meeting a friend. I'm running a little late though." I said as I scanned the room. I spotted Ominis in the corner sipping on a butterbeer.
Sirona's eyes followed mine and landed on Ominis.
"Oh..." she smirked playfully.
"No... he's Sebastian's best friend." I informed her. She was well-aware of my feelings for Sebastian from the very moment he brought me to the pub. When Sebastian disappeared one the summer, I didn't need to say a word and Sirona just knew. She helped me cope with it all without overstepping her boundaries. We never outwardly spoke of it, but I hope she knew I was grateful.
"Well, love always comes from unexpected places." She teased.
"I'm going to just ignore that." I turned my back to her as I started heading towards Ominis.
"Hello Mr. Gaunt." I said, deepening my voice to catch him off guard.
Ominis raised an eyebrow, "You're not very convincing."
"I saw you flinch." I sat on the chair across from him.
After the cafe, Ominis and I had a conversation about moving forward. The past had a hold on us that had been going on for years. It was scary to think about Ominis finding out my past. However, if keeping my friendship with him will alleviate any of the guilt he's been carrying, then I was willing to take the risk.
"Is it weird to be back here?" He asked.
"No. I love Sirona and this place." I hummed. "Plus I have a store here so I come back quite frequently."
Ominis furrowed his brows. "You have a store? A business?"
"Yes. Stitches and Draught. I sell clothing items. I can show you after if you'd like."
"Impressive." Ominis nodded.
"Yes, I'm quite the entrepreneur." I joked.
A woman walked past our table and turned her head swiftly to look back at us.
"Rose? Ominis?" She called.
I turned my head to face her as her familiar face registered in my head.
"Adelaide Oakes!" I exclaimed, standing up to greet her.
