Mitch peaks through the blinds of the classroom window, seeing the same brunette haired kid zoom down the sidewalk from yesterday. Yesterday and the day before, and the day before that. He had no idea who he was outside of the baggy band shirts and jeans he wore and his messy hair. Mitch hadn't even seen his face, as his back was always facing him when he passed.

This kid liked a schedule. Every morning at eight, he'd be there, zooming down the street. As per usual, once Mitch sat down at his desk next to the window, he'd see the tall kid skating down the concrete next to the building. Either he was skipping, graduated, or was always late to first period.

Of course, you already know who this kid is, our beloved Gabriel.

He was a senior now, in comparison to the sophomore that Mitch was. It was mid-September, and the two had to still grow into those titles yet.

A lot had changed since the crash, like the newly remodeled front garden, perfectly designed for Gabe's skateboard. It wasn't intentional, but the school board definitely regretted it now as dozens of kids were pulling up to school on skateboards. The sound of the wheels on the concrete was apparently loud and annoying to teachers and classes that were located at the front next to the sidewalks. Gabe always rolled his eyes at those comments. They should've made thicker walls. Why weren't they reacting to those kids with loud engines that way?

Mitch sits back down in his seat, listening to his teacher begin the lesson on the American Industrial Revolution.

Gabe picks up his board outside before opening the front door, meeting Ray, who'd been waiting for him in the lobby, with a little handshake. The brunette rests his headphones around his neck and clicks his tape player to pause, asking how the other boy's morning was going.

"Man, you're looking good. How was rehab?"

"Dude, I've been back,"

"What?"

The two laugh, walking toward their classes together.

"Dude, I've been back for a week. My wrist is nearly perfect again." Gabe nudges Ray's shoulder with his elbow, moving his wrist around with ease.

"Nice, man. You talk to Fuckshit at all?"

Gabe's smile quickly falters as he shrugs. "Not really. I'm just procrastinating. There's so much going on, and he's been the last thing on my list recently. I've been meaning to thank him about the hospital bill shit but, yknow. Thanks for scoring my job back for me, though."

Ray nods, patting Gabe's shoulder. "Make it a good year, yeah?"

"Yeah."

"C'mon, let's go get food before we go to class."

"Yessir."

Ruben taps the end of his pencil against the desk, the eraser lightly tapping against the thick plastic. He'd given up on taking notes on the stupid video, he just wanted to get his hands in the clay and get this shit over with. He'd been dealing with two weeks of notes and preparation, he wanted to get it over with already.

Behind him sits Gabe and Stevie, across the room sit Mitch and Ray. Sadly, they couldn't pick their own seats and had been scattered around the room. Gabe and Ray share looks of boredom while Stevie doodles on his paper, some stick figure skateboard drawings.

Mitch looks over at Gabe, just through a glance around the room, and finally pieces together that he's the kid skateboarding to school. He mentally shrugs and turns back to the video on the board.

Stevie turns his paper to face Gabe next to him, showing him his doodles and a little note that described that he was bored. Gabe gives him a nod and an eye roll, placing a finger gun to his temple. He rests an arm around the freshman's shoulders and pulls off his beanie, revealing his messy brown hair.

Stevie lightly giggles and tussles with Gabe to get his beanie back. He pulls it back over his head, lightly punching his older brother figure.

"Asshole"

"Says you, freshie"
