(Y/N) didn't know what to do.

Laying on her hospital bed staring blankly up at the white, drab ceiling, she felt lost—swept away in a thrashing tide, she desperately called for someone, anyone, to help her only to be met with the vast and echoing silence of her mind. Everything she knew and thought would be familiar to her felt so foreign that she physically could not bring herself to even smile at activities she once enjoyed.

It was like she were a shell of who she formerly was, present, but not fully.

She didn't want to be this way.

Nor did she know why she was this way.

She just couldn't get rid of the mentality that she was not supposed to be there, and that she was missing something or someone whom she could not fully remember. Her mind felt like it was being torn in two from how desperately she tried to recall what she had forgotten, unable to properly focus on any of the tasks the doctors gave her for physical therapy or simple cognitive functions. During the night, she would have such vivid and beautiful dreams of individuals in somewhere that when she woke up and couldn't recall it, she cried.

    She would cry often.

Finally, after a few weeks, (Y/N) was released from the hospital with the recommendation to see a physical therapist every few weeks and a regular psychiatrist if she needed further aide in working through what she experienced.

    She mutely returned home.

It didn't feel like home, though.

The bed she slept in, the table she sat at, the old hallways that creaked under her step—everything felt off. She recognized this space as her home, but from how cold and desolate it seemed with only a minuscule of decoration, it didn't look all too welcoming of her presence. In fact, and though she couldn't explain it, the atmosphere felt downright depressive and weary.
