Chapter I: sickness

Hey guys! 👋🏻 This is a short story that happens în the Wild Kratts universe. I started rewatching the show a while ago, and I just felt like writing something. I hope that you enjoy it and please correct me if you see any mistakes, English is not my first language. Also, I do not own any of the characters. They belong to their respective owners. So, without further ado, let's hop into it, shall we.

!!!This story takes place the next day after the "Amazing Creature Race" episode!!!

Have you ever wondered why each member of the Wild Kratts crew has their on Creature Power Suit? I mean, they can just borrow the brothers' if they need it or if they want to, right? You might say it's because it's more practical this way, but what if it's not just about being practical?

It was another monday morning on the Great Plains for the team in the giant turtle🐢, but things were unfortunately not so smooth. The girls didn't feel well, like at all. Their heads were killing them, their bodies were hurting, they barely could move a muscle, they had high fever and felt dizzy, they coughed nonstop, couldn't eat or drink anything, their throats were sore, they were exhausted,they felt weak, they were cold, and have been throwing up all morning. The boys did everything they could to help them feel any better, but until now, their efforts were in vain. They hated to see their friends like this and that there was nothing else they could do because they already did what they could.

- Thanks, boys! We really appreciate it, Koki said as Chris came closer to her to check if the fever had gone down.

- Oh, don't mention it! You and Aviva always take care of us, and now it's time to return the favour.

- That's right! Jimmy said from the computer. The moment you two feel like you can eat something, prepare for my famous chicken soup and linden tea with honey and lemon 🍋 juice.

- Ah! How I wish I could eat some of your food now, Jimmy, you're not only the best pilot but also the best chef..., Aviva said as another coughing rage cut her out.

- Easy, easy. I'm sure you two will be back on your feet in no time. This time, Martin was the one to speak. He was carrying two more blankets, a purple, and an orange one to cover the girls because they were shaking in cold.

- Gracias Martin!

- Why don't you two try to sleep? Maybe it will help. You need some rest anyway.

- Good idea, bro! Come on! Let's let the girls catch on some sleep, the younger Kratt said as he turned the lights off and walked towards the automatic door, followed by his friend and older brother.

- Sleep tight girls! Call us if you need anything.

- Yes, Jimmy! We will! Thank you! both Aviva and Koki answered in unison.

Jimmy gave one of those smiles he is known for and went to follow the brothers. He loved his friends. They were like a family: always helping and taking care of each other, always having each other's backs, supporting and comforting each other, they were always there for one another, even if one of them did something really stupid, like loosing the only key to the Tortuga, twice! And now, two of his friends needed help, and he would do anything he could to help them feel better.

Three hours later, the girls woke from their slumber. It did help them feel a little better. At least they could eat something now.

- How are you feeling, Koki?

- A little better. You?

- Same. Jimmy's soup sounds good now. I'm starting to feel hungry.

- Don't mention it. Now that my appetite is back, I feel like I could eat a whole pot.

Koki reached for her creature pod and called the others:

- This is Tortuga! Come in wild Kratts!

- Hey Koki! How are you feeling? Chris's smiley face popped on the screen.

- We're OK, I guess. We just woke up. Where are you guys?

- Just walking around. We're heading back now. He turned his head and shouted to the others: Hey Martin! Jimmy! The girls are awake! Let's go back!

- Coming, bro!

- We will be right there, girls! See ya!

- See ya!

At dinner

- Ah! This is exactly what I needed! Jimmy, this is amazing!

- Thanks, Koki! Just the best for dear sick friends.

- Your fever has gone down a little. That good news.

- After we get through this and feel better, I'm going to run some tests and and an experiment on the Creature Power Suits.

Everyone stopped eating and looked at Aviva with questioning looks.

- But why? The suits are working fine.

- I think the suits are the reason I and Koki are feeling like this.

- But that can't be! We're wearing them all the time and we're fine!

- Martin is right! The suits never made us sick before! Maybe there's something else.

- I'm completely sure that the suits are the problem. I mean, the only thing we did yesterday was the race, nothing else. We both wore your suits.

- Yes, but...

- And remember that time you lend me your suit, Chris?

- Uhm! I remember. We convinced you to try bird-of-paradise powers so you can learn how to dance.

- Well...

- Well?

- The next day, I felt the same way I am feeling now. Maybe not this worse, but you got the point. I didn't think much of it, so I brushed it off. But now that it happened again, and Koki getting sick too...

The brothers looked at each other. They knew she was right. Better safe than sorry.

- Guess it's worth a shot! Martin answered this time.

- Then it's settled!

Everyone looked over at the Creature Power Suits that were hanging in their place. Could Aviva be right? Can something in the CPS make them sick? If so, then why isn't it affecting Chris and Martin? They need answers and fast so that they can fix it.
