CHAPTER TWO: BAD IDEA.
[you know this isn't real.]She changed her mind about going to class. Isabelle despised sounding desperate; it gave her the worst feeling in the world. So, when she finally decided to follow Charlotte through the corridors, calling out her name to get her to stop walking, she felt incredibly stupid, "Hester, stop." The brunette paused, sighing, before turning around and greeting the exhausted blonde who had come to a halt in front of her, "Thank you."
"What do you want?" Charlotte asked, her arms crossed across her chest. Isabelle had only just gulped at the brunette's posture, suddenly nervous at the sight of her literal rival looking somewhat intimidating in a way she had never been before. Charlotte waited for her to say something, but after a few seconds of silence, she said, "We'll just pretend it never happened, okay? You obviously didn't mean it, and did it to spite Jasper for whatever reason — I don't really care, but let's forget about it, okay?"
"As much as I loved m— Jasper's unintentional gossiping when we were together, I know that he'll tell the whole damn world what he saw," Charlotte caught the hesitance that Isabelle had when saying Jasper's name and raised her eyebrows as Isabelle continued, "We can forget about it but the school will find out by tomorrow. We have to fix this."
"This is all your fault," Charlotte scoffed, "You have to fix this."
Isabelle was stumped, because Charlotte was right. But she really couldn't fix this by herself, she had no idea how to - so she said, "Then I — I need your help." It was a surprise to Charlotte because never in a million years could she have imagined that Isabelle would ever need her help. Isabelle felt the same way, in fact, she found it hard to even get the words out.
"The solution to this is really easy, Isabelle," Charlotte muttered with a glare, "You tell everyone that you only kissed me to spite your dummy boyfriend, and voila — all done."
Isabelle thought about it, she really did. But the more that she thought about it, the more she realized just how bad of an idea it was, so she said, "I'm not doing that." Charlotte squinted her eyes and glared at her, her arms crossed upon her chest in suspicion as to what Isabelle was thinking and why she wouldn't just tell the truth, "If I tell them that I kissed you because of Jasper, my reputation will go down the drain."
"How?" Charlotte asked, before she then crossed her arms and said, "Actually, don't tell me, I don't care." She was about to leave, seeing as she would rather spend her time elsewhere. Before she could though, the soft small voice of Isabelle's reasoning hit her ears. She turned around to see Isabelle with an expression that had shown... vulnerability. Something that Charlotte hadn't seen before.
"He broke up with me because he likes someone else," she said, not seeming at all happy about it.
"Congratulations to him," Charlotte answered cynically, unsure how to react to this unexpected display of sensitivity and emotion from someone she was so used to seeing the true nature of. She swallowed when she realized Isabelle was still serious. Her melancholy eyes locked on Charlotte's, and she almost fell for it if she hadn't caught herself at the last second.
Isabelle continued with a smile that didn't reach her eyes, "I told him that I was going to do the same because I liked someone else too."
Charlotte's eyes naturally widened, "Wait, what? You like – so you —" She made a series of motions between Isabelle and herself, panicking slightly. Her mouth was slightly agape at the thought, and she began to reconsider all of their interactions in life to see when this could've happened. Isabelle rolled her eyes and softly slapped the brunette girl on the side of the arm, "Um...ow?"
