Don't let yourself be fooled by the sweet words of a person you once knew.

Days passed in a blur, and Friday arrived once more, bringing with it the excitement for the soon arrival of the weekend, which was going to be special for the group of 5 friends that didn't have much time to hang out together unless it was lunchtime.

And once more, they were all sat at their usual table in the cafeteria, each with their chosen food in front of them, as lunchtime had finally arrived for their hungry selves.

William had learned his lesson in regards to the food in the cafeteria so he had gotten some mashed potatoes, matching Erika's usual choice of food when it came to lunchtime at school.

However, Paul had a love for forcing his stomach to digest the worst foods in the cafeteria more than half of the time.

"Man, you're going to die one day if you keep eating the weirdest things from here." William casually pointed out, watching as Paul chewed on a bite from the imitation of a sandwich that he had gotten from the cafeteria.

Paul looked up at William and chuckled, "You don't live if you don't take risks." He shrugged with a smile. Erika shot him a quick glance, smiling a little.

William chuckled and shook his head, "Don't forget that tomorrow is your birthday, you have to be alive for that." He reminded Paul teasingly.

Paul rolled his eyes playfully, "Speaking of my birthday actually," He looked around the table briefly before settling his gaze back to his best friend. "You are all coming, right?"

Polly looked over at Paul and nodded immediately, "Of course, we wouldn't miss it." She said excitedly, running her hands through her hair quickly and fixing it up.

Makayla nodded at Polly's words, "Yeah, I even did my hair and everything." She grinned. Polly let out a low whistle as she looked back at Makayla, "I know I've already said this, but you look so good when you get your hair done."

Makayla laughed, leaning her head back. "Thank you, my dad works so hard to get my braids just right." She remarked, looking over at Polly. "We stayed up until like 2 AM to finish them." She continued.

Polly stared at Makayla, her eyes softening as she listened to her talk. When Makayla was done talking, Polly cleared her throat, "Well, he did an awesome job." She complimented.

"And they really suit you." Polly immediately added, her gaze flickering from Makayla's face to her hair.

Paul smiled as he heard their exchange, "I have to agree, you look awesome Makayla." He nodded. "Is your dad a hairstylist?"

Makayla looked over at Paul and nodded excitedly, "He's been one from before I was even born." She explained, her smile never leaving her face.

Paul's smile widened, "That is so cool, so he's been doing your hair since you were little then?" He asked, before taking another bite from his sandwich.

Makayla nodded, "Yeah!" She coughed after speaking. "He has really gentle hands and it's nice that I don't have to pay to go get my hair done or anything," Makayla explained with the same smile as earlier.

Polly kept staring in silence at Makayla as she spoke, Polly's smile never leaving her lips.

Makayla soon turned back to Polly, "Your food is getting cold." Her grin widened as she spoke. Polly's smile softened, "Yeah?" She whispered.

Makayla nodded slightly, making eye contact with Polly. "Yeah." She whispered back, her eyes never leaving Polly's.

Polly tilted her head to the side slightly, "I'm not too worried about it." She whispered again, her heart fluttering at Makayla's simple response. They were close enough to hear one another, even if the cafeteria was filled with chatter in every corner of the room.
