prologue.

"babe, we're out of painkillers, do you mind stopping by the convenience store on your way back tonight?" a young brown-haired boy stepped into the living room, rubbing the sleepiness off his eyes.

a well-dressed, slightly older boy with blond hair who was sitting on the couch with a laptop seated on his lap eyed the boy who spoke, "you're seriously making me run errands? i'm going to be at school till 8 pm today, you know?" he states, with an eyebrow raised.

the younger trudged over to his lover, engulfing him in a tight hug around his waist, "pleaasseee?" he begs, "i don't plan on going out today since i don't have classes, i promise i'll have dinner ready when you get home." he cheekily smiles.

the blond sighs, putting his laptop away as his lover takes up all his personal space, "alright, i'll get some on the way home." he says, patting the youngers head.

"you guys make me sick." a third person enters the room.

ah, the main character.

"hao hyung! are you on your way to work?" the brown-haired boy, gyuvin, sat straight up and watched the older make his way over to the kitchen, which wasn't far from the living room.

hao grabbed an apple from the fridge and took a bite out of it before making his way back to the other two, "i am. you guys have classes?" he inquires, after swallowing his first bite.

"i have extracurricular activities, but gyuvin's off classes today." the blond-haired boy, ricky, replies, "are you sure you're going to be stuffed enough with that apple? we have cereal in the cupboard." he says, a worried tone laced in his voice.

hao swallowed his second bite, "i'll be fine, the manager at the café always gives me free croissants to snack on while i'm working." he says, taking a third bite of the apple.

"oh right, yujin doesn't have classes today either, so don't wake him up too early. the poor kid stayed up all night to work on a school project." hao continues, as he makes his way to the front door of the apartment he shares with the the three boys.

"i'll see you guys later!" he waves at the boys he treats as his brothers, who wave back at him.

"walk safely hao hyung!"

how did these 4 boys come to live together? that's quite a story to tell. hao, the oldest of them all, is 18 years old, who graduated high school at only 16 due to his high intelligence. right after graduating, he got a job at a local café not far from where the apartment is located. why didn't he go to college? well, because he didn't have the money for that, and that is why he is working to save up so that he could pursue his dream of studying music.

hao has lived in the orphanage since he was 5 years old and therefore did not have any form of financial support. he grew up alongside gyuvin and yujin, who are currently 16 and 14, respectively. he sees both of them as his younger brothers, and he cherishes them both dearly.
