A\N: This is another Lauriver oneshot, this is a fluffy fic where Oliver watches Laurel sleeping and thinks about what made him get home, and what he fought for.
He's watching her sleep facing him, a smile on her face as she grasps his hand. She told him before sleep claimed that he's the strongest man she's ever known. He rolled his eyes. If only she knew how much I fought those last five years to get home to her. He thought to himself.
He fought for 5 years, endured all he endured to get home, to get home to her, killed people and animals to get home to her, he witnessed things that would never leave him, so he could get back home to her. He fought with everything he had to get home to her. The hell he went through for five years nearly broke him but it didn't because he fought, for her. He fought against the coldest of weathers, he fought the illnesses that attacked him, he fought against the will to die, he fought everything. For her. For Laurel. For the love of his life. The woman who would be his light in the dark, the woman who would he go that through hell five times over if it means keeping her safe, the woman he would sacrifice everything for if she asked him, the woman he would spend the rest of his life protecting and fighting for.
He called her from the watch tower and teared up when he heard her voice for the first time in what seemed like forever. He opened his mouth to say her name, to let her know that he wasn't dead but the words got stuck in his mouth like he'd eaten too much peanut butter and couldn't speak. He was scared to let her know of his being alive when she would ask if Sara was alive too, and he didn't want to break her heart again over the phone while she was in school, and not the mention that she would most likely tell her parents or his mother that she'd spoken to him. While he loved Laurel with everything he had in him, he couldn't risk anyone finding out he was alive at that time.
When he first got home, all he wanted to do was track down Laurel and tell her how sorry he was everything: cheating on her multiple times while they were together, sleeping with her little sister, taking her little sister on the boat, not trying hard enough to save her little sister when the water sucked her down underneath the sea, that he let her little sister die while he survived, but he knew deep down that she wouldn't want to see him as soon as he got home, he wanted to give her her space when she found he was still alive.
It would be hard for her, and for her father who hated him.
He was glad he fought for her when he arrived back home, after the shock of his return had settled.
Oliver kisses her forehead softly so softly that she probably doesn't feel it.
"I'll always fight back to you, my pretty bird. Always." He whispers against her forehead before he joins her in sleep, not realising that his pretty bird has heard him.
A\N: This one is done! I really love Lauriver soooooooo much. I've got a few more of this ship planned in my head that I need to write, but I'm also watching working on a few JIBBS oneshots and a few Willicia stories that need to be finished before I start a new story. I hope you enjoy this one, Angels.
