-5 months later-

— BUCK'S P.O.V —

"Morning, Dave!" I greeted my neighbor when I saw him.

"Good morning to you too, Evan!" He greeted me back.

He was moving out today, I mean he was going back to his family.

"You want to join me for a coffee? " I offered.

"Yeah, of course." He said.

I let him come into my house.

"Have a seat I'll just get our coffee." I said.

He sat and I started preparing our coffee.

When I was done I gave it to him. I sat with Dave and we talked.

"You're sister is a 911 dispatcher and you're a firefighter? That is so cool." He's amazed.

"Was... a firefighter, I quit my job." I explained.

"Why?" He asked.

"Long story... how about you? Tell me about yourself." I said changing the topic.

"I have two younger brothers and one older sister. I'm divorced. I have two children, a boy and a girl, they're fifteen and six." He said.

"That is nice..." I said in a low voice as I remembered Christopher.

"Did I say something wrong?" He asked because of my silence.

"Oh, no sorry. I just remembered something." I explained.

"Well," He said and he stands up, "I better get going, I still have some things to pack up." He said.

"Of course, thank you for your time." I said.

I walked him outside and I went back inside and went to my room. I lay down on my bed and let out a big sigh.

I opened my phone and played a voice message I never sent to Eddie.

-Hey, I have something to tell you... I... I like you Eddie. I know it's kind of weird because you're a boy, and you're my best friend but the first time I saw you, the first time we worked together, I know that I like you. But I kept hiding it from you... and from myself. You're not doing anything but why did I fall in love with you? And if you're thinking that this is one of the reasons I left, it's not. I like you Eddie, a lot. And it's okay with me that you don't like me back, I just want you to know I'll always be here as your friend no matter what. I hope this doesn't change anything between us...

I took a deep breath and sat up.

"You are not being happy, Evan." I said talking to myself. "You have to enjoy, 'cause that's your promise!" I hit my head with a pillow. "Enough recalling bad memories and making yourself feel bad, I'm going to enjoy!" I said, I was still talking to myself like a crazy person.

I grabbed my keys, got out of the house and started my jeep.

EDDIE'S POV:

"Here comes the birthday boy!!" I said.

I said when Chimney walked upstairs.

"Athena said we're going to another picnic on Saturday, you coming?" I asked.

"Well, hell yeah! I wanna eat those delicious s'mores again, they're amazing!" He said excitedly.

Ever since we started camping five months ago, Bobby thought we're going to do it every month and we can bring anyone. It's like our rest from work.
