-Yelena's POV-

I ran up to the roof ignoring anyone who saw me. Why can't Natasha just listen? No one really wants me here, they never did, I'm just some stupid burden to them. None of this makes sense, she should know that I'm still struggling to get used to having my "own" life.

I don't know how long I sit there for but I see the sun start to go down, which means it's getting closer and closer to another stupid Stark Party. I really don't want to go, I want to leave but I know Natasha will do whatever it takes to find me. Ever since I got here she's been full protective sister on me. It's weird, I can handle myself. Can't I?

I hear the door to the roof open, out of habit from the Red Room I stand up, pull out my gun, and point. Then I realize who it is and put it back in my pocket and sit back down turning away from them.

"Dinner's ready." she said

"I'm not going." I respond blunt so she will leave me alone but she sits beside me anyway.

"I don't think we've formally met yet. I'm Wanda.", she says with sweetness in her voice. I can tell she's genuinely being nice and not faking it like Dreykov used to do.

"I know."

"Oh umm.. well I know we don't know each other Yelena, but you can talk to me, okay?"

"Yeah. Sure. Thanks."

"I decided to make boxed Mac and cheese for dinner, do you want me to bring you some?", she asks politely, she's also very patient. Which is strange because Natasha doesn't usually talk to me like this. It's nice to feel like I have an opinion, even if it's about food.

"No, no,  it's fine I'll come down. Thank you though, Wanda." I try my best to sound polite but I still am getting used to it.

She smiles again sweetly, it's kind of nice having a civil conversation with another human being besides my sister. "It's no problem at all, I'll see you downstairs." then she leaves.

I wait a couple minutes before heading back down, I like the roof a lot. It's incredibly peaceful I can't lie, I like watching the city at night, and the sunsets, the cool air just reminds me that I actually made it out of the Red Room, that everyone is. That we're all safe and we don't have to look back again.

When I go downstairs I see everyone staring at me like they've seen a ghost. (except Steve who was getting food) I'm not surprised at  this point, they do it  every time I walk in the room without Natasha. They act like I'm some type of bomb going to explode any second. It's quite unsettling. Then Wanda breaks the silence by walking up to me with a bowl of my favorite, boxed Mac and cheese with a side of carrots. The carrots are not great but my mom always said I had to eat veggies when I have Mac and cheese back before the Red Room.

"Here.", she says handing me the bowl. "You can sit there beside, Natasha." Again she smiles, I see her smile like this to everyone else, I know she's actually nice and she means it but I can tell something's bothering her. I don't point it out though.

Suddenly Natasha elbows me in the ribs gently then clears her throat.

"What? Oh yeah, thanks, Wanda."

"It's no problem." and she walks away.

Then a couple minutes later Tony comes in wearing a full tuxedo with his hair slicked back like he's from the 50's. "The party starts in 30 minutes!", he shouts. (clearly drunk already)

"You smell terrible, Tony!", Steve tells him.

"It's vodka", I mumble so no one can hear.

Natasha leans over and whispers, "I'm sorry about earlier. I didn't mean what I said."

"It's fine"

"Are you coming to the party?"

"I don't think I have a choice", I say. "Plus if there's vodka you know I'll go.", I laugh slightly.

She laughs a bit too. "Okay. I have a green cocktail dress if you want to wear that, it's on your bed."

"Okay thank you.", I say as I finish eating the bowl of Mac and Cheese. I take my bowl to the sink and go up to my room to get ready. When I go up to my room I see the dress and something else. It's kinda shiny, gold. (which is my favorite out of gold and silver. Natasha wears silver and I wear gold, she hates twinning even though I think it's funny)

I walk up to it and see it's a ring. It's really pretty actually then, I see a note beside it.

I've been seeing you fidget with your fingers a lot lately. So I ran out and got you this to mess with so if you don't want to show it. -Love, Nat

I smile. (slightly she still gets on my nerves). I feel kinda happy she showed she cared. I put on my dress, braided my hair, then put on the ring and went downstairs. Another long night ahead of me.
