Mysterious Cold

I cup my mouth to hold back a scream. Stay calm D, stay calm. I tell myself until I was sure my screaming urges were gone. I feel a slight breeze in the dull lighted bathroom and picture it as the wave of panic flying away. I take cautious breaths, turn the light off and head to the window. My window is located directly across bed. I love waking up in the morning and having the beautiful skylight shining on me.

As the sun comes up it makes brilliant dull colors in the sky. Breathe deeply as I turn away from the familiar sight, grab my phone, and head downstairs. I step carefully because I have fallen so many times before. With luck I don’t this time.

I find my mom in the vacant (besides paint) sun room. It wasn’t always a sun room though. When we moved here we had two walls knocked down so we could add windows for walls. Then after it’s all ready and painted it will me by room. Until then I have the other room. My mom looks up at me, causing the light purple paint to drip onto her navy blue shirt.

She cursed. “ Mom”, I warned. I really have a problem with cursing

“Sorry, Happy birthday Diana”, she apologizes.

“ Thanks mom. I’m going to set off early”

“Do you need a ride?”

“ No I need to clear my cheek. HEAD”, I stutter. Stupid!

“ She raises an eyebrow, Alright, Be safe”

I leave the room and the house yelling a silent goodbye to my dad. I let a small gasp escape my mouth as the cold whipped at my face. No such thing as cold, my butt! It’s almost the middle if February and it’s freezing. I leave the driveway of my house and wal down the street, I abruptly stop moving, my breath slows, and my body tingles. Something isn’t right.
