It's the morning coffee rush.  The long line of business men with fancy suits and ties curl out the door of the café, all eager to get their daily caffeine intake and get out of this hustle of the early morning streets.

Car horns blast outside but muffle through the café windows and doors.  The next customer in line steps forward and a tall blond haired woman smiles and takes his order.

Freya watches her co-worker while she waits for the espresso machine to hurry up and finish this cup for order #117.  With a beep, she sighs and slaps the order sticker on the cup before reading it off.

"Black, fresh pressed coffee, with a dash of oat milk and 2 shots of espresso, for a Mr. Flynn Caddel?" Freya pushes a loose tuft of long brunette hair behind her ear and scans the room, eyes landing on a tall man that steps forward, hand outstretched.

"That's me.." The man says.  By the looks of it he's around 6'4 maybe 6'5.  His ash grey suit tight to the muscular body hidden beneath.  With the small movement of his head he shakes somewhat damp, black hair away from his face and takes the coffee cup.

Freya handed it to him, her hand brushing against his palm slightly as she passed off the paper cup and threw him a friendly smile. "Have a good day Mr. Caddel"

Her amber colored eyes meeting his icey blue ones as he nods at her and replies,"You as well.. Miss.." he takes a moment to read her name tag and turns to walk away after finishing,"Miss Madden." With a click of his shiny office boots he leaves and Freya moves on to the next customer.

Then the next, then the next, then the next.... who knows how many she served today, it's hard to keep track of time on days like this.

Later in the afternoon, it was Freyas turn to close the café, and all her co-workers just left. Chairs were up, the floor was sweeped, and the counter was spotless. She grabbed her jacket and hung her uniform, apron and hat, on the hook by the kitchen when the front door opened.

She turned to see who it was, and had recognized him instantly, then thrown him a tired smile. "Mr Caddel was it? I'm sorry but we just closed."

He looked at the sign on the door and sighed,"right of course, my apologies." He turned to the door again and placed his large hand on the handle.

She sighed as well and shook her head, setting down her things. "It's alright, I can make one more order." She walked past her uniform and went back behind the counter.

He turned to her and closed the door, a little surprised, but he smiled and nodded, walking to the bar-counter as well. "Just a cup of coffee, I like it-"

After that she cut him off with a smile as well,"Black, fresh pressed coffee, with a dash of oat milk and 2 shots of espresso?" She drummed her fingers on the countertop and chuckle slightly.

"Please." He replied and set his business brief case down on the floor beside him. She swiftly grabbed a cup and prepared his drink. "How much do I owe you?"

"On the house. You seemed like you've had a rough day." She leaned on the counter and slid the cup of warmth across to him.

He just stared at her for a moment,"yeah." He picked up the coffee and took a long sip. "Thank you."

She nodded and watched him for a moment before turning back to the coffee machine and turning it off, wiping down the counter.

"Anything else I can get for you Mr. Caddel?" She asked as she threw the paper towel in the garbage and wiped her hands clean on her pants.

He thought for all of a second and then shook his head,"just the coffee." He then took a five dollar bill out of his pocket and placed it in the tip jar.  Which was already empty and ready for tomorrow morning.

Freya smiled at him and took the money, sliding it into her back pocket and then speaking."Alright then."

Flynn took another sip and sighed in satisfaction and exhaustion.

She leaned against the counter again and tilted her head.  "Everything alright?  Is the coffee bad?" She asked, a bit worried she forgot an ingredient or so.  She was a bit busy admiring the man sitting in front of her.

He chuckled and shook his head,"No, the coffees fine.  Really good actually, just.. work."  He tapped his fingers on the lid to his cup and stood up.

"I'm sorry to hear that.." she said, wanting to know more but too afraid to press on.  He was a stranger after all.  Merely a customer, he just felt.. different.

He smiled and then raised the cup as he grabbed his brief case.  "I better head out, wouldn't want to keep you in too late." He waved and his eyes lingered on her face for a moment before he turned and walked out the door,"Goodnight, Miss Madden."

"Goodnight Mr. Caddel." With that he left, walked out to his car and drove off into the late night traffic.

Freya again, grabbed her things, and walked out the door.  Turning and locking it before getting in her car and starting it up.

She played a soft song, too many thoughts going through her head to listen to anything else.

The whole drive home she couldn't focus on anything other than the road, afraid she would take things the wrong way.

But man.. was it just her.  Or did he just remember her name eight hours after they met?

It's probably nothing.  She shook off the feeling and drove the rest of the way home.  Quickly kicking off her shoes in the door and flopping down onto her bed.

Flynn Caddel.  Gods was he pretty.

I'm hoping to make the future chapters longer than this but leave a comment if you have any ideas or suggestions on how the story should go, or if I had a grammar/spelling error.
