Chapter 2 :An introduction

Adora's pov:

The car ride was a bit awkward and quiet,it always was. It's almost a script if you think about it,
it gets boring after a while honestly.

The car was warm despite the frigid dank air outside. It was kind of spacious but not too much. The bright green seat covers and polished wood lining was not a good sight to the eyes, but at least she wasn't cold.

Adora stared out the window, watching the water droplets playfully dance down until they joined their brothers again in the small pool at the bottom.
There were not many cars out and the road was getting woodsy, they must be heading somewhere in the country or a small town, possibly both.

The one called lance coughed and spoke up

"So! Adorat! Tell us about yourself!"

Adora stayed silent ,introductions were pointless anyways. She was going to be gone in a month so what does it matter.

Lance and george glanced at each other tentatively, unsure it seemed what to do next, typical, newbies are always so nervous at first until you meet the true them.

"Look, we're both aware of your housing history and we really do think we can help you. We've got a long drive so we might as well get to know a least a little about you if you're going to be with our family"

Adora sent both men a scornful look through the little mirror between the two front bright green seats.

" Just don't feel like talking"

Adora said , making sure the irritants she felt was heard with her words.

"um,Adora, what I believe my husband is trying to say is that we know how hard life has been for you and want to make this time you have with us a time you feel safe.
Even if you're with us for a short time or permanently.
We just want you to feel comfortable."

She really wasn't surprised, she'd heard it all a million times. Promises of safety and security that never come to pass, it was the best tactic to manipulate kids like her.

"Sure" was her flat reply

"Ooookay, well how about we tell you a bit about ourselves?"

Adora shrugged,
as long as she didn't have to talk she was okay with that, she could just tune them out if they got boring.

"Well, im lance, and this is my husband george" He said, pointing his dark pink painted index towards his lover.

George temporarily took his right hand off the lime green steering wheel and waved awkwardly.

" hello!"

Lance continued
" we've been married for 19 years and adopted our son Bow a year after that. Our precious boy is going to be 18 in a few months,"

he said, wiping an imaginary tear dramatically.

" you both will get along just splendidly, i know it!
We both work at a college as professors about an hour from the high school you'll be attending next week actually!
We've decided to give you today and the weekend to settle in before you officially start on monday.
We'll have all your transfer information by tomorrow,
I do need a bit more info on you to sign the paperwork but we'll take care of that no problem!"

Lance continued talking on

Adora just drowned it out,rested her head against the cold window, and closed her eyes.
