Eve p.o.v.

I climbed into my seat and started the car, Ein shyly sat in the backseat on the passenger side.

I looked at him, confused, but he didn't look at me back. If that's where he wants to sit, I guess.

My music started on the radio, and "Young and Beautiful" was the first song to play. I had a lot of Lana Del Ray in my playlist.

I quietly sang along as we left the parking lot. Ein didn't say anything the whole ride to my house, even when I reminded him to text his sister that he'll be at my house. I could never tell if he was listening or not.

We finally pulled up to my house and I shut the car off, then turned to Ein. Only to find his mouth open and his eyes wide.

"What? What is it?"

"Your...your house is huge!"

I turned to look at my house. Yeah...I suppose it could be considered a bigger house.

"It's a family house. Every Alpha in my family has lived in a huge house like this." I guess I was just used to it, I didn't think it was abnormal.

We climbed out of the car and I grabbed my bag from the backseat as he looked around the property.

He had such childish amazement on his face, it was so interesting to see. I went to unlock the front door and turned to wait for him.

He seemed to finally notice I was watching him when he looked up at me from the little rock frog by the pond. He got noticably embarrassed and hurried to catch up to me.

I have to admit, I'm a little upset. He's always been so chill with me when it's just us. Now, out of nowhere, he's quiet and shy and withdrawn. I wish I knew why.

I had him leave his shoes by the front door and went to put my bag by the stairs. I'll take it up later.

Ein slowly wandered around the main floor, marveling at every little knickknack and painting that my family had been collecting for generations.

I'd gotten so accustomed to it, having grown up around this stuff, that I never considered that it could be fascinating.

I got comfy on the couch and watched him. He took his sweet time before he joined me, sitting up straight on the edge of the couch and not taking his backpack off.

I was so confused at his behavior. "Ein...is everything okay with you?"

He looked at me, surprised by my question. "Uh...y-yeah of course. Why do you ask?"

Why do I ask? "Because you're never this awkward with me. You're acting like you asked me to the school dance and now my Father is intimidating you from across the room."

My joke seemed to relax him a bit, and he cracked a smile. "You're funny. No, I'm really alright. I haven't really...I can't...I don't have a straight answer. I'm sorry, I know I'm acting weird. I just can't help it."

"Did something happen? Did someone say something? You're so quiet and...stiff."

He forcibly relaxes his posture, and apologizes again. "I swear I don't know what's going on with me. It's like all of a sudden I don't know how to act around you."

I think that's the best I'm going to get out of him, so I drop it and grab the remote to scroll through the streaming services. "Any preferences?"

".... What?"

"On what to watch. I'm open to pretty much anything, but I don't do hunting shows."

"Oh um...I'm really good with anything, too."

I side eye him, but don't say anything. I just scroll through Hulu until I come across Storage Wars.

I ask him if he's ever seen it, and he says no.

"Well you know how sometimes people stop paying for their storage unit, for one reason or another?"

He nods.

"When they don't clean out their unit, whatever's inside becomes property of the storage owners. So most of the time they'll bid it off. Some of them will have really cool or really freaky stuff inside."

He doesn't say anything, but I can tell he's thinking about what I said as we watch.

Later, after a couple snacks and a couple episodes, we were right in the middle of someone opening the unit they paid for.

They got three sets of golf clubs, six old dusty rugs, a couple paintings, several totes of Halloween decorations, a box of old toilet lids, and a somewhat new dresser filled with 70s costumes.

What a purchase.

Then a knock came from the front door and Ein gathers his things. "That'll be my sister."

"Booo." I stand with him and stretch. "Well I had a good time. We'll have to do this again."

He smiles. "Y-yeah! I had fun too. Thanks for letting me come over, and for the snacks, and for keeping me company, and for-"

"Okay, okay, come on it's not like I gave you a kidney. Just some chips from my pantry."

He laughs. "Well thank you regardless. I'll see you tomorrow?"

I nod and walk him out. "See ya, get home safe."

He smiles and heads out. I wave at his sister and shut the door behind him.

... The house is quiet now. I hadn't realized how much another person fills the house with liveliness.

I shake off the uneasy feeling and go to clean up. It also didn't feel right watching without Ein, so I turned off the tv.

Once the house is spotless again, just as my parents like it, I grab a soda, another bag of chips, and my backpack and head up to my room.

Supernatural is calling my name, so I sit at my desk and open my computer to where I left off.

It's late by the time I finish my homework, and I still hadn't heard my parents car pull up, so I pack everything away and go to change into pajamas.

The cute blue one with ducks on them that I like.

Then I crawl into bed and scroll through my phone for a bit.

Sasha messaged me, school emailed about spirit week, new sales on my shopping apps, nothing great.

So I plug my phone in and turn over to go to sleep...but it takes me a while because I can't stop thinking about how weird Ein was acting today. I really should find out what was up, but he seemed back to normal after a bit of Storage Wars.

Maybe I'm just overthinking things.
