The kiss

Today she has a big meeting today with a big company
So she was rushing out the house this morning.

I walked into the kitchen to see if her cook,mary, needed me to clean but I was met with tears and sniffling.
"Hey,Mary what's wrong?"I say rubbing her back while she looks up from her phone
"I just found out my daughter's in labor and I might miss it" she says wiping her tears with the bach of her hand.

I rip a piece of the paper towel handing it toher while she takes a deep breath in, trying to calm herself.

"how about I take over dinner tonight?"automatically she shakes her head "No... you need to go home to care for papa sear she says. "He's with his aunt.She's more than likely happy to take over for tonight. Go! I understand how important this moment is. I wish I had a mom like you" I say smiling.

She takes aminute to answer then responds "OK! Fine .You know where everything is,her favorite is-" I cut her off "I know"
I say watching her rush to pack up.

3hours later

I'm finally done cooking.While admiring the food my mind drifts to a memory of celebrating thanksgiving with my family before papa bear was born and how much drama that took place that thanksgiving.The smiles turned to angry expressions,holding hands turned to fist being thrown-

I'm pulled out my thoughts hearing keys open the door.Nicki enters the house kicking her shoes off.

"You better be putting them shoes on that shoe rack"I say catching her off guard
"Uh Hey? What're you doing here so late?"she says struggling to take off her light jacket.

"Mary had to go home early.Her daughter went into labor,so I took over"I step forward to help her with her jacket
"Ohhhh that's great,I gotta send her a present.I like to eat so don't feel no way when I share my opinion"she says chuckling.She jumps a bit when my nails accidentally touch her skin,which I apologize silently.

As we wall towards the dinning room I start to get really nervous. I used to cook for my family alot so I'm not new to cooking but I did want to impress her

"Wow!" She says while her eyes lit up like
Christmas and she licks her lips instantly.
"I hope you enJoy, I made your favorites . Curry shrimp, fried chicken, fried plantain with white rice and oxtail sauce on the side if needed " I say with my hands planted on the back of one of the dinning Chairs. I was about to walk away but she stops me by reaching my waist.

"you should stay, eat with me"she says with her head tilted and her bright smile blinding me. I respond with a nod and we started sharing out the food

"Oh I didn't even think of drinks, any specific drink selections?" I say about to stand up
"No,No you sit I'll choose" She says walking over to her bar pulling out some expensive wine that had no english words on the front.

As she squeezes and pulls to open the bottle I notice her arms through her shirt and the focusness of her face and the slight vein on her arms making me take a gulp. Maybe the wine will losen me up.

30 minutes later
"Ahh ha. No really I was actually a good kid believe it or not"Nicki says laughing

"I don't know if I really believe that"I laugh loudly but trying my best not to choke

Reaching for her plate to start the dishes she stops me mid way.
" Hold up I know you dont think I'mma have you doing dishes after you made this bomb ass meal"She says shaking her head.
Taking the plates from my hands she walks to the Kitchen and I follow behind her with my wine in hand

Nicki had put away all the food while I leaned against the counter. Now she's washing the dishes and I'm amused at how annoyed she is not being able to get the grease out of the pot.
