Chapter 10: Back To Switzerland

Norbert and Heike let Aimee to sleep at the hotel as they knew that she must be so shocked that Seb didn't remember her as his wife. It was a shock for them too as his parents, but they had to be the calmer ones for their daughter-in-law.

Not long after arriving, Aimee who shared her room with Britta (with two single beds) decided to phone Anja. She had to explain everything to her friend about what happened to Seb after he was conscious.

"Aimee? Is there any news?" Anja asked right after she picked up the phone.

"Yeah. Seb has been out of a coma."

She sighed a relief. "Oh, thank God. This is fantastic news! You know that he's a fighter. He-"

"Anja, I'm sorry but can you please listen to me first?"

"Oh, okay." Anja was suddenly very nervous. "I'll listen."

"Thank you. Seb remembers me, his parents, Fabian, Antti, and Britta. He remembers us all, but.." She was suddenly sobbing and Britta took a seat next to her on her bed and stroked her back softly. "..he was asking you because he thinks that you are his girlfriend. He doesn't remember me as his wife."

"What do you mean? I'm very confused." Anja shook her head. "Take a deep breath, Aimee."

She did as she asked before speaking again. "The doctor gives an initial diagnosis that Seb has retrograde amnesia, where he can't remember the events that happened before the injury occured. But he said that he doesn't want to draw conclusion too early. Tomorrow, he will ask some questions to Seb and then from there, we can know if the diagnosis is correct."

"God."

Anja sighed heavily. It was really surprising her, in a bad way. She had no idea how to react to the fact that Seb thought of her as his current girlfriend and he was searching for her.

"Aimee, I don't know, I'm speechless actually. But you have to remain calm, okay? He will be fine, I'm so sure of it." She tried to calm her friend down, but she knew that it was useless as it was also very surprising for herself. "By the way, when will he be transferred to Zürich?"

"As soon as possible, I hope."

"I hope so. I'll pay a visit when he's already there."

"Thank you. Erm Anja, I'm sorry but I'm gonna sleep now. I'll inform you when we are ready to go to Zürich."

"It's okay. You really need it. Bye, Aimee."

"Bye."

Aimee hung up the phone and as she realized that Britta was still sitting beside her, she immediately hugged her and cried again until she had no energy left.

While at her house, Anja also couldn't hold her tears. She couldn't believe with what she had just heard from Aimee. Then, Benjamin came into their shared bedroom and saw his girlfriend crying.

"Anja, what happened?" he asked before hugging her.

After a few moments, she pulled away from him to explain the reason she cried. "Aimee phoned me. She told me that Seb has been out of a coma."

"That's great news! But why are you crying? Is he okay?"

"Seb.. he is searching for me. He thinks that I'm his current partner, his girlfriend. He doesn't remember Aimee as his wife."

Ben was definitely surprised as well. "What?"

"The doctor gives an initial diagnosis that he has retrograde amnesia. It makes someone forget some events before the injury occured. So, maybe, he forgets that we broke up and he's married to Aimee."
