(No One's POV)

Koby stared at her in awe as the men ended up helping her get her a boat and enough food for a few days. Marie smiled as they got on the boat and she offered her hand to Koby.

"Well, you coming?" She asks with a smile.

Marie must be some different type of pirate and he takes her hand and they end up in the water. She smiles at him and they set on course. He smiles at her and she looks off to the sea remembering where this all started.

(Flashback)

Marie woke up in her bed and looked at her calendar. Today shanks was coming back! She breaks out into a grin and gets up running down to the docks. Her grandfather would be so mad at her, but she did not care!

She had looked up to Shanks since she first met him. He was scary at first, but over time he wasn't. She liked his hat.

She pushed open her hatch door and climbed out before running off to where she knew they'd dock their ship.

She climbed aboard and heard one of the crew's voices.

"Work fast as the breeze men." He orders. "Captain wants his haul to the traders by nightfall before those marine bastards get back on our trail."

"Easy with this, Roux," Shanks says, catching one of the boxes that almost fell. "It is worth more than all the treasure put together."

Marie smiles and runs up to Shanks. "Shanks!" She calls out.

He looked over as did the rest of the crew.

Yassop stopped her as he laughed. "Our favorite street urchin comes to welcome us back. How ya been, kid?" He asked pushing down on her head as she huffed causing the rest of the crew to laugh.

"I'm not an urchin. I'm a pirate! And I'm not joking. I'm ready to join your crew!" She said.

"The sea isn't a child's game," Shanks said handing some more treasure to his crew as he walked past Marie, pointing to his face. "It's dangerous. The scars on my face are proof of that"

"I can do it, Shanks. I swear!"

shanks sighs and looks at her. "You are not ready." He says.

She looks at him firmly. "I am, and I will show you." She says and runs off.

Shanks shakes his head and then goes back to work and one of his crewmen walks up.

"You might want to take it easy on her captain, she has no family to speak of. She is all alone in the world." He tells her. "She also looks up to you."

"Rather her be a disappointed kid now, than a dead one later," Shanks says.

Maybe it was because of all they'd been through, but he felt a parental responsibility for her. Part of that is keeping her out of trouble.

The sea is dangerous, even without other pirates and sea beasts, a shipwreck can be life and death.

He'd rather she not die young.

"Let's get this done, these men need a drink and a bath." He says and then hears Marie.

She smiles. "Hey, Shanks!" She cries out holding a knife in her hand. Shanks had a bad feeling.

"Put it down, Mar!" He calls out. "Before you hurt yourself!"

"I am not afraid of getting hurt! and I will prove it to you!" She says and then stabbed herself in the face.

"MARIE!" He cries out in horror she cries out she is always too sweet and apparently dumb- but as angry as he is for her stupid impulsive behavior, his worry overrides that as another crew member gets her down, bringing her down from the shop and onto the docks for her to be patched up.
