Our Second Baby

Part 2. Yongduri

Thanks to the OBGYN's letter, Haein got the MRI results the next day.

Haein and Hyunwoo went to the hospital and met the neurosurgeon.

"I'm immensely happy to say that your results were clean. It is not a relapse. The recurring headache was from anemia and low blood pressure. With supplements and enough rest, you should be able to go through your pregnancy in a healthy manner."

Without being able to hold it in, the couple sobbed in front of the doctor.

Once they could pull themselves together, Haein asked, "Do I need to stop working during my pregnancy, Doctor?"

"It's a really good idea. Considering that you lost your child before, and your history of cloud cystoma, it will be great to focus on resting and avoiding stress. I was initially going to recommend working half a day, but taking the year off is even better, if possible."

"I'll do it. I really want this baby."

"Jinjja? You'll take a year off? You're ok with that?" Hyunwoo asked.

"Ne. This baby is my priority."

Hyunwoo beamed.

"Thank you. I hope your family is ok with this."

"Of course they will."

And it was no surprise that her whole family agreed.

"Finally! I hope you will be healthy and be a Mom soon," her mother said.

"Noona, you'll ace this!" Soo Cheol said.

It was a Friday night. Haein and Hyunwoo have the habit of staying at the Hong's Mansion every Friday night.

"But.... I want to stay at Hyunwoo's house in Yeongduri."

"What? That's so far from your OBGYN!"

"I can drive to the hospital and return again while I live there."

"Why would you stay there? Why not just move back in here?"

"Yeongduri is very peaceful. Besides, I want to eat his Mom's nutritious meal everyday."

Hyunwoo exclaimed, "Ah, I see. My Mom will be happy to have us."

"Baek sobang, you'll go there too?" asked Haein's father.

"Of course. She's pregnant, I can't leave her alone."

"Good. I hope Haein can have a healthy and stress-free pregnancy," Haein's father added.

"Ne, Appa. This baby is my biggest project. Secretary Na will contact me daily. Besides that, I'll relax."

"Is that really relaxing if you still think about work everyday?" her mother asked. 

"At least I'll rest more. I'm going to walk around the village, eat a lot, and read a lot."

It sounded like a good plan.

The first night after Haein moved to Yongduri, Hyunwoo's mom cooked her a table full of meals. Haein ate happily. She really loved eating at Hyunwoo's house, and the habit of the family members who gave the best part of the meal right onto her bowl. 

Perhaps it was pregnancy hormones, but Haein had to hold back tears when Hyunwoo's mom put peeled shrimp onto her bowl.

"Eat a lot, Child. You're growing a human inside you. Eat a lot and don't worry about anything."
