As the interviewer's question pierced the heavy silence that enveloped us, I found myself drawn back into the depths of the nightmare once more. With a heavy sigh, I began to recount the events that had unfolded after the confrontation with Atticus.
"It was a mistake," I admitted, my voice barely a whisper as I relived the memory. "We thought that Atticus was the last of them, but we were wrong. There was one more person, a shadow lurking in the darkness that even Alzuras had not anticipated."
As I spoke, the weight of the truth settled upon me like a leaden cloak, dragging me down into the depths of despair. It was a revelation that filled me with a sense of dread, a cold certainty that the horrors we had faced were far from over.
"But who... who was it?" the interviewer pressed, her voice tinged with apprehension.
I shook my head, unable to meet her gaze as the memories flooded back with renewed intensity. "I... I didn't know then," I confessed, my voice trembling with uncertainty. "But I do now. His name is Azriel."
The realization hung in the air like a specter, casting a pall of unease over our conversation. And as I sat there, grappling with the knowledge of the darkness that still lurked beyond the edges of our understanding.
As I delved deeper into the recesses of my memory, I realized that the true horror of our ordeal had yet to be fully revealed. The name "Azriel" echoed through my mind like a chilling refrain, a reminder of the darkness that had stalked us from the shadows.
"It wasn't until much later that I discovered the truth about Azriel, the final piece of the puzzle in our nightmarish ordeal. He had been watching us all along, lurking in the shadows like a malevolent specter, his eyes trained on me with a predatory intensity.
It sent shivers down my spine to think that he had been so close, yet so far, his presence a constant threat that lingered just beyond the edges of my awareness. And as I pieced together the fragments of his twisted game, I realized that I had been nothing more than a pawn in his sinister machinations." I stated.
But even as the truth began to dawn on me, I knew that I could not let fear consume me. With Alzuras by my side, I would confront Azriel head-on, ready to face whatever horrors awaited us in the darkness.
"And so, with a newfound sense of determination, I vowed to uncover the truth about Azriel and put an end to his reign of terror once and for all. The battle may have been far from over, but with Alzuras at my side, I knew that together, we would emerge victorious against all odds." I continued.
"So, you left the next day to tie your loose end?" The interviewer asked with generous curiosity.
"Not really," I began, my voice laden with the weight of past regrets. "Arlo, he was the first target, you see. But what I didn't realize then was the intricate web of connections that bound him to our story. He wasn't just any target; he was Azriel's brother."
The interviewer's eyes widened in surprise, urging me to continue.
"It wasn't until much later that we discovered this connection," I elaborated. "Arlo was the mastermind behind all the crimes our group had committed, but Azriel's influence ran deeper than we ever imagined. His lair shifted like shadows, an elusive phantom slipping through our grasp. We couldn't pin him down, couldn't predict his next move. It was as if he vanished into thin air, only to reappear with that sinister smile, taunting us from the shadows."
The memory sent a chill down my spine, the darkness of that time still haunting my thoughts. "It was during one of these encounters, a chance encounter at the grocery store, that I finally realized the truth. Azriel was always one step ahead, pulling the strings from the shadows, orchestrating our downfall without us even realizing it. And by the time we uncovered the extent of his machinations, it was too late to do anything."
The interviewer listened intently, captivated by the tale of deception and betrayal that had unfolded before me. But even as I recounted the events of the past, I couldn't shake the feeling that Azriel's shadow still loomed over us, though he was long gone. Cause he once was a loose end.
