Chapter 3

Atsushi, Dazai, Kunikuda, Naomi, Junichiro and I were at Cafe inumaki, the cafe below the agency. I was seated on a stool while the rest were at a table.

I didn't pay much attention to what they were talking, I was more occupied thinking when our bonuses will come or if I will even get a bonus.

But suddenly Atsushi asked about their past jobs.

"So what did all of you do before you joined the agency?"

Everyone was silent and I pretended that I didn't hear the question, just staring at nothing but the wall.

Dazai broke the silence by counter asking "what do you think we did?"

"Huh?"

"Let us make a game of it. Try to guess what we all were before, lad." Dazai says

Atsushi started off "Um... let's see... "
"Tanizaki-San... were you and your sister students?"

And he got it correct
"Ooh, good guess!" Tanizaki said

"How did you know that?" Naomi asked Atsushi

"Well, you look the part in that uniform, Naomi-San. Tanizaki-San isn't too much older than you, so- you know, I just figured."

"Nice work. What about Kunikuda-Kun, than?" Dazai asked while kunikida got a little angered "knock it off! My previous work doesn't matter..."

"Hmm... A government official?"

"Close." "He formerly taught mathematics at a licensed school."

"Wow!" Atsushi exclaimed and kunikida fixed his glasses and says "it's in the past. I hate to even recall it."

Atsushi was probably imaging Kunkida as a teacher.

Now all I need is that Dazai doesn't ask about my past jobs.

"What about Y/N-Chan?" Dazai pointed at me

Speak of the devil

"Oh, erm...! Atsushi-Kun, you don't have to guess I..." I tried saying before Dazai interrupted me "on but Y/N-Chan, it's more fun this way!" He smiled and I just sigh and nod

Atsushi named 2 different jobs before answering "maybe a waiter?"

"Ah! You are correct." I say

Ah! I don't have to worry now.

Dazai after adds "But, before she was a waiter we both had the same job!"

"Eeh...!" I exclaim

Honestly, I don't know if you are the misfortune that my ability brought me...

"Dazai-San, huh...? And Y/N did it aswell?"

Dazai grins and I just sweat

Atsushi probably is failing to even imagine it.

"It can't be done, lad. Their prior vocation is one of the great mysteries of this agency." Kunikida says

"I think there was a prize for the fist person who guesses it." Tanizaki says

"Quite true... A rather hefty purse too, as no one has claimed it yet." Dazai says, stirring his food, but I just blink a could times before asking "wait... there was a prize? Can I claim it." I awkwardly smile.

I really need that money...

Dazai took a bite of his food and looked at me "no, you can't." And poked my nose with the handle of the spoon

"I'm sure he was some kind of ruffian, but he swears he wasn't. How could a man like him hold any respectable sort of job? While Y/N claims she doesn't have a second previous job and with this suicidal maniac, it's hard to even imagine." Kunikida says and then Atsushi asks how much the pot is.

"Oh, care to try your luck? Right now it currently stands at 700,000 yen." Dazai says and Atsushi's eyes widen getting up from his seat abruptly, Junichiro shudders by the sudden action that Atsushi did.

"And I get it all if I guess correctly?" Atsushi asks determined

"A suicidal man never lies"

No... you definitely lie in some cases.

Atsushi named five different jobs and Dazai answers for me.

"Office worker."
"No."

"Lab research."
"No"

"Factory worker."
"No."

"Writer."
"No."

"Actor."
"No...
but I like the sound of that!"

"Hmmmmmm.
Hmmmmm..."
Atsushi tries thinking of other jobs fit for Dazai and myself.

"I told you, he was either homeless, a scoundrel, or both, right? And I believe he invented the thing that Y/N worked with him also." Kunikida says

"Not at all, my good man" Dazai spoke and stands up "When it comes to this, at least I promise I won't lie." "Give up, then? Go ahead and add to the pot, please. Thank you!" Dazai says

"Dah!" Atsushi exclaims

Beep Beep Beep

The sound of a phone beeping was heard and Junichiro pulls out his phone and answers "Hello?" "Huh?" "You have a job for us?"

Everyone stood up from their seats to go upstairs for the job, except for me.

"Y/N-San, aren't you going to go aswell?" Atsushi asks and I shake my head "There is no need." "Oh, um... alright then."

Everyone left, I turn my head towards the café maid.

"Uhm.. Tabane-San, could I work part-time here next week, please?"
I spoke quietly.

She turns to me "Yes, of course! But let's not end up like last week."

"I... Thank you."

(Flashback)

Y/N was at the Uzumaki café, working.
It was quite peaceful and was serving costumers.

But in that moment an animal like figure entered the café, Y/N's color washed and started to sweat and started trembling.

It was a white tiger, it grabbed Y/N by its tail and it went outside with her.

Y/N cried and the tiger went to an ice-cream truck.

Y/N in hand had the ice-cream, eating it "I can't even taste anything!" She said, terrified, she was that scared she couldn't even enjoy the flavour of the ice-cream.

(End of Flashback)

That was definitely not a good memory...
