mentions of violent actions, however, they are not very graphic.

Venom is a name, and if not mine, then whose?

|Hanako.

My eyes met Sora's as the world fell around us. There was chaos everywhere.

There was a smile on my face and a tsunami in my eyes.

A boy walked up to us, "Did you do that to her?!" There was violence in his eyes. I turned to him, a pleasant smile plastered on my face.

"Sorry? I don't know what you are talking about," the words probably hit him harder than the realization that no one was even going to think of me when they thought of Sumi's broken hand and sewn lips.

Sumi. The girl who thought she was hot shit by giving death threats to my brother. Sumi. The girl who woke up with a broken hand, sewn lips, and blood all over her like she bathed in it.

Do you regret it?

He held onto my shoulders, shaking vigorously, "You did that to her didn't you?!"

All it took were my next words for him to stumble back in surprise, shuffling away,

"Keep talking like that, and I'll sew your lips next."

Watching him scurry away, a weight lifted off my chest. This was going just like I planned it.

"Nee-chan?" I hummed, providing all my attention to my brother, he handed me an ice cream, a smile bloomed on my face, one that didn't scream murder.

"For me?" I took it with delicate fingers, watching the happiness grow in Sora's eyes as I took it, promising him that I'd eat it later.

"Children! Hurry inside your respective rooms!" One of the nuns shouted, trying to maintain at least some sort of decorum, "And, please, do not step outside unless you are asked to!"

I led Sora to our room, we were the only ones calm in this chaos. The smile on my face was a blue fire, and the hands around his wrists were ice.

I like it when things go my way.

That night I snuck out. Retracing the alleyways I grew to call home. My feet were bare and cold against the dark walls.

This place was as special to me as a discarded toy to a child who gets bored easily. That didn't mean I wouldn't find myself coming back here, again and again.

A week under a roof was nothing to combat the hunger and thirst I had to be on the run.

There was another thrill to run from people who you know can never catch you. Well, never comes sooner or later I suppose.

I held hands with the shadows, clutching at the mist between crossroads.

My heart rate picked up as I noticed the very places where I once curled up, trying to sleep. Sleep never came easy to me. That was one thing it shared with my dreams, they were as dead as they could be.

The air shifted, and my eyes darted around the blank silhouettes-- I clutched my pocket knife.

I was being followed.

"Oh. it's you," recognition flashed in my eyes, "Chisaki."

"Call me Kai," The boy mumbled, his form stern and proper, eyes a pair of steel staring back at me, "I've told you several times, you can call me Kai."

"Aww, I'm flattered," I playfully rolled my eyes.

Lousily, I spun the pocket knife 'round my fingers, liking the way the cool metal felt on my skin.

"Where's Toya?" Chisaki walked closer, snatching the knife from my hand-- so I'd finally meet his eyes.

And they did meet, my ice green met his gold, darting away soon.

"It's disrespectful to not look at your elders when speaking to them."

Childishly I mimicked him, rolling my eyes, I took back my blade and began to walk away.

"You coming?" my hair bounced on my shoulders and down my back as I turned back halfway, "That's where Toya usually is."

Wordlessly he followed me, silence rung loud, our heartbeats intertwined in a melody.

"I waited for you yesterday," there was a weird tone in his voice as he spoke to me, "all night."

A bitter smile took over my features, when I spoke the words seemed stuck to my throat, "They caught me."

His eyes widened, he spun around hard to look at me in the eyes, "What?"

His hands found my shoulder, desperation behind the curtains of his voice, "What are you doing here?!" He looked around as if expecting the world to start tumbling, "Where's Sora?"

Kai's voice grew quieter, finally trusting me to speak up.

"At the orphanage," He raised his eyebrows in confusion, "They're finding us a home."

I bit my lips anxiously, finding my words and emotions hard to voice out.

"B-but! You have a home! It's Sora, and me and Toya."

I had never seen him like this. Desperate, and toying with his emotions like they came easily to him. Because they didn't.

"I'm going to run away, soon," I admitted through broken words, clasping onto Kai's hands and gently bringing them down from their death grip around my shoulders.

"Then come live with me."

"Eh?" I bet if someone took a picture of me right now, they would find bold, red confusion painted all over my face.

"I know-" He took deep breaths to calm his racing heart down, "I know that you have denied my invitation time and time again, but this is dangerous, and there is no way am i going to let you and Sora live alone when you're on the run."

"We've always been on the ru—"

"This is different and you know it."

The poise was never absent in his voice, he spoke in a demeaning manner. Then why can i find something else in the aftertaste of this voice? Something...warm?

Was Chisaki Kai, the greatest, finally melting through his ice?
