As her day unfolded, a new name appeared on her schedule – Brad Jones. An unfamiliar name that sparked curiosity in Penn's mind. Was he a recent addition to her patient list or perhaps a discreet celebrity seeking medical care? Patients often enjoyed a sense of privacy, and Penn couldn't help but wonder.

Her first patient arrived, but an unexpected phantom lingered in her thoughts – Chris. The image of him sitting in the chair, legs crossed, and his intense gaze fixated on her, played like a persistent reel in her mind. A quick inhalation, and Penn composed herself, ready to focus on the patient at hand. However, the only response was the echoing sound of shoes on the wooden floor, a haunting reminder of a presence that seemed to transcend the confines of reality.

the clock ticked towards 12:00 pm, Penn took a break for lunch. A short stroll brought her to her favourite shop, where she indulged in a smoothie and a toasted bagel adorned with cream cheese and smoked salmon. With lunch in hand, she sought out a seat strategically placed where the sun filtered through tree branches, casting dappled shadows. The fresh air provided a welcome reprieve, keeping her cool as she savoured the flavours of her meal.

In the quiet moments by the door, Penn found comfort. The symphony of nature accompanied her, and the sun kissed her face with warmth. Yet, amidst the tranquillity, the enigmatic presence of Chris continued to linger in her thoughts, a ghostly echo that defied the boundaries of the ordinary Wednesday routine. The day unfolded with a blend of routine tasks, unexpected names, and the lingering shadows of an intriguing connection.

Seated in her favourite spot, basking in the dappled sunlight, Penn indulged in her lunch, savouring the flavours of the toasted bagel, cream cheese, smoked salmon and the refreshing smoothie. As she scrolled through her phone, an unknown message interrupted her peaceful moment. Wary of potential spam, she casually slid it aside. Being a doctor, such messages were a common intrusion in her daily life.

As Penn glanced at the bustling crowd outside, she couldn't help but wonder about the stories that each person carried within them. Lost in thought, a vivid memory of her own graduation night flooded back. She reminisced about the laughter, the sense of accomplishment, and the bonds forged with friends as they celebrated their achievements together.

As footsteps drew near, the atmosphere changed subtly, a sensation Penn recognised all too well. She glanced up to see a pair of light brown leather shoes, gleaming in the light. The scent that trailed behind them was distinct, a mix of rusted musk that she associated with Dolce & Gabbana, a fragrance that never failed to captivate her senses.

Her heart quickened, pounding out of her chest as a wave of apprehension swept over her. The memories of a fierce gaze, one that had the power to disarm her, flashed through her mind. She hesitated, a subtle fear of experiencing that intense stare in a public setting. The delicate balance between anticipation and trepidation hung in the air as she prepared for the possibility of a familiar face and the emotions it might stir. With the taste of lunch lingering on her palate, Penn reluctantly left the comforting spot by the door and made her way back to the office.

The anticipation of the next appointment hung in the air, and as the clock ticked away, she couldn't shake off the persistent thoughts of Chris that seemed to linger like an unresolved melody.

As the second appointment commenced, exhaustion began to settle in. The weight of the day, coupled with the echoes of memories and anticipation, left Penn drained. The minutes passed slowly, but eventually, the session concluded. A fleeting sense of relief washed over her as she realised the second appointment had come to an end.

With a rare half-hour respite, instead of venturing outside, Penn decided to channel her restlessness into work. The hum of the computer and the familiar dance of keys against her fingertips became a temporary distraction. Reports were meticulously written, emails sent out into the digital void, all in an effort to keep her mind preoccupied and the clock ticking.

The minutes transformed into a blur as she immersed herself in the tasks at hand. Rising from her chair, Penn stretched, allowing the tension to dissipate from her body. A quick shake, a deep breath, and she headed back to the office for her last and final appointment of the day.

Back in her office, Penn was greeted by the familiar hum of professional tasks. Despite slipping back into her routine, a weariness lingered, accompanied by thoughts of Chris that refused to fade. As the day progressed, she found herself juggling her work responsibilities with the swirling emotions of personal contemplation.

A new patient had found his way onto Penn's list, a tall and slim figure with distinctively narrow features. His low-cut beard and neatly combed hair complemented his handsome appearance. The tan tone of his skin exuded warmth, and when he spoke, a deep voice resonated like a breath of fresh air. Yet, as Penn observed this new addition to her patient roster, her heart remained untouched, unlike the palpitations that Chris had ignited.
