~3rd person~

"Go! Go!" A blonde woman in her mid-thirties quickly exclaimed as she carefully pushed her two kids forward towards where the exit she had created was. That woman was Vanessa Parkinson, her children were Janetta "Jeanie" Parkinson and Colten "Colt" Parkinson, and she was trying to get them away from her husband, their father. He wasn't good man in the slightest, and when she found out the awful things he wanted to use her kids for, she knew that she needed to get them out of there.

Jeanie and Colt both had backpacks slung over their shoulders as they ran just ahead of their mom. They could hear their father yelling, "Vanessa!! Get back here!" Fear gripped Jeanie's heart, and her brother noticed the panicked look in her eyes, and took her hand as he ran squeezing it lightly to reassure her that everything would be fine. "Vanessa!" They heard their father yell again, as the three of them haunted in front of a fence, the very fence that has kept them all trapped inside the little town their father had made. Vanessa hesitated, when she heard the sound of running footsteps came to a halt, just a few yards away from her. She stared at her children, as they both turned and looked at her, Jeanie with wide fear filled eyes and Colt, who was standing protectively in front of Jeanie, despite the look of determination on his face, Vanessa could see just how scared her son was just by looking into his eyes.

Vanessa's eyes softened for just a moment as she looked at her children, and she hugged them closely, kissing them on their foreheads before she pushed them towards a hole in the fence, that was their exit. Their chance to escape. "Mom!" Colt said quickly, turning to look at her as their mom stood in front of them, her eyes were dark as she stared at a man now far away. Their father, Draken Parkinson. "Get out of here, go!" Vanessa told Colt and Jeanie, neither of them wanted to leave their mom but one glance back from her was all Colt needed and he quickly pulled Jeanie with him through the hole in the fence. The twins started to run, and Jeanie looked back for just a second. Just in time to see something that would scar her for ever. She watched as her father struck down her and Colt's mother...

Jeanie stopped in place, causing Colt to stop as well, he turned and looked at her and noticed she was staring back. The two of them watched as their mother's body fell limp to the ground, blood pouring around her. While Jeanie felt immediate shock and sadness, Colt felt intense rage from both witnessing it and feeling his sister's strong emotions coursing through her. They watched as their father's cold, dark eyes raised from their mother's body and at them. In that second Colt pulled Jeanie with him as he started to run again, hearing their father yell their names only pushed Colt to run faster with his sister. He could hear her quiet crying, as he held back tears himself. At the last second they made it to a bus stop, just as the bus was getting ready to leave, Colt pushed his sister onto the bus climbing on himself just as the doors shut behind them and they found a seat. Jeanie was trembling, tears running down her face as she gripped tightly on the ends of her sleeves, leaning against her brother as he wrapped an arm around her, to try and comfort her at least a bit. As the bus started to move, Colt looked out the window of the bus as it left, he could see his father at the bus stop glaring after them. The blonde boy narrowed his eyes and flipped off their father as they left. He made a vow to himself that he'd protect his sister no matter what, he hadn't been able to protect their mother, but he was always going to protect Jeanie.
