It worked. I walk to the car in my purple cocktail dress, shiny sequins peppering my chest and a rushed matching eyeshadow look sits upon my face. I open the car door and am met with Celias grinning face.

"Shut up." I mutter, throwing my purse on to the seat before sitting in it myself.

"I knew that would get you to change." She exclaimed, a cheeky look on her face. She grabs her seatbelt and I do the same.

Poppy is my ex. We'd been dating for almost a year and a half before she spontaneously broke up with me. I don't even know why yet, but supposedly it was some rumor from Summerdale. Of course it was, her completely calculated persona couldn't have her dating someone with a 'reputation'. Either way, it's her loss. I know my worth now.
"Hellooo? Are you ready or not? Quit overthinking, you'll be fine." Celia rolled her eyes as she snapped me out of my trance. I quickly nodded as she started the car and put it in drive. I was looking forward to spending the rest of my night lurking in corners.

"C'mon, have another! Lilly's rich asshole parents are paying for it! Tara yells over the crowded bar, holding three shots in her hands. I look at the

"Oh shut up Tara." Lilly looks at me with a smile, handing me one of the small glasses.

"Oh, no thanks. I'm the DD today." I say with a slight chuckle, hoping they'll get the clue that I don't want to get wasted.

"Ughhh can you just forget your morals for once? Get wasted with us!!" Tara pouted, urging the cup towards me. I shook my head as I pushed it back. If 'having morals' meant not wanting to drink and drive, I was all for it.

"Ter, it's ok, we can order an Uber or something! Lighten up, have a drink. Nothing bad's gonna happen, I swear." Lilly promised. She had always been the pacifist of the group, her polite tone coercing everyone to do what she wanted.

Don't drink it. Don't drink it. Don't drink-

"Ah fuck it." I take the glass and throw it back into my mouth, the tequila making my face turn sour as it burns my tongue. Tara cheered as Lilly smiled brightly.

"Yay! Ok, now there's this drink I want to try and its multicolored and everything, c'mon!" Lilly spouted, dragging me and Tara over to a bar man. "Hi, helloo Mr. Bar man!!!" The man laughs as he wipes down a cup.

"What can I help you ladie...s with?" The bartender's face falters upon seeing mine. Odd. He clears his throat before his smile returns.

"Yeah, can we have one Rainbow Rocks, one Sex on the beach, and...Aster, what do you want?" I think for a second, looking at the signs about the station. Martini...Cosmopolitan...Vodka.

"I'll take a shot of vodka, please." I smile at the bartender, noticing how his face turns much more rigid as he hears my name.

"Of course, let me check if we have that." I furrow my brows. He must think I'm wasted if he thinks I'm blind.

"The bottle's right there, man." I laugh awkwardly, pointing towards a bottle of Absolut Vodka on the back counter. The man's face pales as he licks his lips, clearly confused about something.

"Right. Right yeah, sorry!" He grabs the bottle and a shot glass before pouring one out and settling it on the spruce countertop. "Let me get those other drinks for ya!" He smiles as he talks to Tara, chuckling as she winks hard at him.

"Uh, did that uh.. seem weird to any of you?" I ask, throwing back my vodka. The taste tingles my mouth as Lilly and Tara look at each other before both saying 'No.'

I nod, before ordering another shot.
