As Ran stared at the person in the mirror they almost couldn't recognize themselves, they were now wearing a colorful jacket that consisted of purple, blue, black, and white with small patches, a white top with a crown embroidered on it, and blue shorts with stars on them and a bunch of accessories and their mask had changed to a half black and half white one.
Just as Ran was realizing the reflection in the mirror was of their own, the mirror popped away, and a big screen popped up with the words 'Welcome! ...' As Ran read the screen, the dots turned into words 'R800' The words read "Wait no that's not my-" They paused their sentence, thinking of the word they were about to say. 'What is my name?..' they thought silently as the screen continued explaining things. Suddenly, their thoughts had cleared as if they were never there in the first place, and they began to look around after the screen had popped away. The area was white with tabs all over floating around as if they were something huge, the sound of a popping noise caught R800's attention and they turned around to see a small search bar with the words 'Where would you like to go R800?'
They typed in the words 'home' as if they were on autopilot, and the strange white void started to pixelate a room of some sort. R800 shook their head. "Wait, home? This isn't my-" They looked around the cozy-looking room with a bed in the corner, stuffed animals of purple particle-looking creatures were all around, and in the corner, there was a little dresser with stickers on the side of it.
'Huh, I guess it isn't that bad of a home - wait no. This isn't my home. I don't know where this is...' They stepped onto the wooden floor with their pastel blue shoes looking around the room, taking every little detail in. Ra- R800 walked over to the small computer on a desk in the corner of the room and studied the monitor for a few moments before turning it on. At first, there was nothing but binary code all over the screen, but it slowly went away for a while, and there were files on the screen. "I wonder what these are.." R800 mumbled, clicking on a file labeled 'The Social Experiments', but as soon as it opened, it closed, and a warning popped up on their screen 'WARNING! YOU DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO THESE FILES.' The pop-up read.
They sat back in the chair as the pop-up closed on its own and locked the file, further preventing them from looking for or opening the file. They scooted forward again and clicked on a different file titled 'The Mind Experiments' A couple of video pdfs, pngs, and docs popped up and they clicked the first thing they saw, which was a small video. The video consisted of an explanation of what the mind experiments were, it was where people who wanted to visit the digital world allowed experiments to be run on them, and their minds were transferred into avatars in the digital world, where they now live their lives digitally and immortality. 'Huh, that's pretty cool, I guess' R800 muttered, closing the video and skimming through other files, finding nothing interesting, only results, and a couple of PDFs that looked boring.
R800 closed the files and sat back in the chair, turning off the pc monitor. "It's a bit boring in here, not gonna lie. There's nothing to do, " They exclaimed. Suddenly, a human popped up out of the screen. "WAKE UP!" and then the strange person exploded into binary code. 'Sorry about that! It seems a virus was found, not to worry it's been taken care of!' A small voice said echoing throughout the room, causing R800 a bit of confusion.
"Wake up?.. I am awake, aren't I?.." they looked around, starting to panic a little. Wait. the breathing exercise that's right! Their name. All they had to do was breathe and remember things. "My name is... R8-.. wait no.. that's not my name.." They trembled."What was my name..." they stood up from the chair, putting their hands in their hair worriedly."I FORGOT MY NAME." They continued to panic for a few more seconds, glitching in and out and all over the place. "What the!?!" They shouted, noticing their body glitching."Wait.. am I in the digital world?.."
They stopped to look around the perfect room with more fearful eyes and saw that it all seemed too perfect to be real. "This isn't my room.." Suddenly, the sound of another pop-up appeared.'What's wrong, R800?' It read out to them in a monotone voice 'Is this?... The digital world?..." they muttered, their voice trembling. The pop-up simply responded with new words being typed out,'Of course you aren't silly. This is just a futuristic room.' The same monotone voice read out, far more suspiciously than before. "Furturistic or not, I don't like it here anymore. Let me go home." R800 blurted out coldly to the pop up, the small little popup simply disappeared, leaving R800 alone in the room. "No. no. no. no. Come back!" They called out, hoping to get a response.
To no avail, R800 decided to stop wasting their time waiting around for a pop up thats probably wasn't gonna come back. Sighing R800 tossed themselves onto the bed staring up at the ceiling in defeat, 'you know... Maybe it wouldn't be so bad living here? "they began to think as they stared up at the ceiling .Wait, what? No! Why am I thinking that!? I have to find a way out of here.'
