Dear John,
Guess what? I mean you can't guess nor read these but this is the 140th letter and everything is as usual I don't know how people move on from dead people, like how does everyone just forget your existence? like you never mattered... You mattered so much to me, how would I live without you here? How am I ever going to be okay?
I got the letter from Harvard... If you were here you would be sooooo happy for me... I'll be starting next semester and I'll be leaving the town, maybe it's the best for me to leave because being here gives me hope... I don't know how but this town gives me hope that one day I'll sleep and wake up beside you on the day you were alive, I know it's a very stupid hope but I still have it... After I leave I will try to move on and stop writing letters, I will let you go, rest in peace, love...
I took one last look at the house before walking away for good as I walked I remembered Ava... "I need to apologize" I whispered and walked towards the coffee shop hoping to see her, she was there, working. I was too hesitant to go in front of her so I stood outside the door, luckily she saw me and came out.
"Hey...", she said as she stood in front of me, I looked at her and said, "I'm sorry for yelling at you the other day Ava", "It's fine", she spoke not letting me finish and as I was about complete what I was gonna say, "Would you like to drink coffee?", she asked glancing back and forth between me and the shop.
"No no, I'm here to say goodbye actually, I got the letter from Harvard and I'll be starting next semester...", I said all of this in one breath before she could interrupt me again. "You are leaving...?", she asked not believing a word I just said, I sighed slowly and held her hand looking into her eyes.
"I needed this Ava, I can't be in this town, not without him, I can't take this pain anymore, I need to move on and not destroy myself...", I said genuinely which made her tear up a bit and she hugged me and pulled away fast and said, "Be in touch and take care", sniffing. I nodded while smiling a bit and walked away.
