Chapter 4

"Oka-san?..."

Mikoto dropped to her feet and hugged him tightly in tears. Itachi soon followed and he looked relieved to see Sasuke.

"Sasuke! Your safe...Where were you?"

"I was...training. I lost track of time and came back....Sorry"

Fugaku came hurriedly and though he didn't show it, he was worried. His eyes gazed at Sasuke and checked for any cuts or wounds. Sasuke saw the pretty lady afar and before he could blink, she disappeared.

The next day, everything was settled and normal. Sasuke on the other hand realised that Itachi and Fugaku were being cold to each other. It hit him. Itachi was also Fugaku's son and if they were acting so cold to each other, maybe the previous night was about them. He was confused. If that was the case, why did the visitor last night say she overheard and felt bad for him? Surely, she heard the whole thing and knew it was Sasuke.

At breakfast, Sasuke was silent and had nothing to say. Itachi then spoke up.

"I've made my decision. I'm exepting the role of ANBU captain"

"Congratulations Nii-san!"

Sasuke cheerfully said. He was happy for Itachi. Mikoto nodded and said as she looked Fugaku dead in the eye.

"Yes. That is excellent."

Fugaku immediately scoffed and got up leaving. Sasuke was dumbfounded by the behaviour but assumed it had something to do with their new attitude to each other.

He stayed silent after that and ate his food. When he was in his room, he realised the next day was fathers day. 16th June. He needed to get his dad a gift and if he didn't he'd be guilty for life. He then snuck out and went into the village to by a gift. Since the ANBU was watching the entrance, he asked for advice.

"Hey, you ANBU, probably don't know my questions answer but, what should I get my dad for tomorrow?.."

For a while he didn't receive an answer. The only thing heard was the silent night and the chirps of the crickets. Soon, he received an answer from a relaxed and has a laid-back tone.

"Fugaku-san surprisingly likes kimchi. You could make him that. But since it's last minute, try getting him a bouquet of flowers or new weapons" (A'N note: I know this is random but I couldn't think of what he'd like.)

Sasuke nodded and thanked the voice before running off again. The ANBU was suspicious of the young child going out this late so he followed.

Sasuke found the flower shop and bought him rhododendron flowers that were red. He hoped Fugaku would like them since they represented danger and caution. He choose these as he looked at his father as a dangerous and scary yet careful man.

After that, he went and bought new kunai, shuriken, and a katana with Fugaku's name on it. How he paid for it you ask? He had a good reputation in the village and he used his cuteness to get it for free. Besides, who would argue with a child wanting to get gifts for his father.

He went home and hide it for the next morning.
