Kiana side glanced at the man walking in front of her with disdain and hatred. The blonde hair man adjusted the lavender cuffs on his sleeves until he felt her cold stare behind his back.
"You've been staring at me for a while. Is there something you wish to say, Kiana?" Otto inquired, stopping to look at her. His green eyes held no emotion to them, compared to anger held in the two heterochromic eyes staring back at him.
"Just know that I don't like working with you. And if you try anything with me, then the gang can expect one person to come back alive." She stated firmly as her amber and blue eyes hardened. The two got separated from the group during a surprise attack and now had to begrudgingly work together until they reunite with their friends.
His response was a closed lip smile and raised eyebrows. "Neither of us have to like it. However, we can both agree that without the other, one of us would be dead. You know that, Kiana." He explained with his chin tucked in. While Otto had no issue killing his opponents, he knew he was at a disadvantage if he tried to fight alone. It would be best for him to wait and see how things would go.
Kiana narrowed her eyes at him. Her fists clenched, just wishing to punch that smug smile right off his face. The grudge over what he did to her when he was experimenting still linger, even now when he had joined her side.
However, it would seem her fists were needed for something more important because the two heard some gurgle sounds behind Otto, and they swerved heads to find a couple of void Taurus appearing. Well, at least there was something that Kiana could use her fists at.
"Perfect timing."
She glanced back at Otto, who had already sensed her eyes on him as he looked back to her. "Now let's see whether you need me or can fend for yourself, hm?" He taunted her, making his way to the approaching creatures as he summoned a dark cube in his hand.
Kiana grumbled some things about wanting to smash him to pulp. "First, I'm gonna have beat these guys and then see if Otto still looks pretty after this." She reasoned with herself, summoning her sword and pistol as she dived into the fight. They were outnumbered, but void Tauruses were not too difficult to deal with. They were not as bad as fighting Otto in Kiana's opinion.
The white-haired girl shot one of them, watching it gurgle and disintegrate. Her orange and blue eyes went back to Otto, watching smoothly yet quickly dodged the creatures as they lunged at him. With a swipe of his cube and a swat of his hand, the energy from the cube destroyed the creatures, leaving nothing but small glowing yellow particles that faded.
"Monster." Kiana muttered, narrowing her eyes at him coldly. However, Otto glanced his eyes at her, and his eyebrows rose briefly before turning around and aiming the cube at the girl. Kiana's eyes widen but narrow again, aiming both her sword and pistol at him.
"I knew it!" She snapped at him, fingers on the trigger, ready to unleash it. Otto didn't change his neutral expression. The cube lit up, indicating that it would fire. Kiana readied herself as the two stared down at each other.
"Get down."
He spoke, but the tone wasn't cold or heartless. It sounded serious yet a small bint of worry. "Huh?" She eyed him strangely, thinking that for a moment, his look softened. "Now!" He shouted, firing the cube at her and without any time to spare, Kiana got down to her knees. The sound of a gurgling cry was behind, and her eyes opened, realization hitting her.
Turning her head around, she saw the form of a void Taurus disintegrating into particles. It must have snuck up behind her, and she didn't notice. "A....void Taurus?" She whispered, stunned that she was alive, thanks to Otto.
"Kiana."
Speaking of Otto, she turned around to find him standing before her with a hand out, offering to help her up on her feet. The hand offered by the person that hurt her changed her and experimented on her. Now, it had just saved her.
Eyeing his ahnd cautiously before looking up at his face, she couldn't find any hint of malice or hidden intentions. It was neutral, yet why did his eyes hold a soft look to them, Kiana wondered.
Not wanting to make this weird between them, she accepted his hand, getting up on her feet. "We should keep moving." Otto suggested, turning his back to her and proceeding to walk ahead. "Otto." He paused, slightly turning his head at her when she spoke. She was contemplating whether to do this with the person she hated most. A person who did not have an infamous reputation because of his experiments with Kiana being one of them. Then again, a part of her said he was the reason she was alive right now.
"Thanks." She got it out, glancing at him for his next move. He stayed quiet for a bit, a bit takem back that she thanked him. He knew they didn't have a good bistriy together, but he wasn't expecting her to give him thanks. "You're welcome." He responded and went back to walking, hiding a small smile from her. He wanted sure why, but Otto was for some reason happy to hear her say that to him.
