Reth's Story

Reth sighed and drummed his fingers on the top of the counter. He leaned his chin into his other hand propped up on the counter. The chef worked for Ashura the Inn Owner and it was usually very lively. He often got to be one of the first Majiri to meet new humans entering the realm as they streamed in to find food and lodging. But today had been slow. Only a few new faces came thru the door and mostly just the same old villagers. Hodari for lunch, chayne for his lettuce soup, zeike to talk shop with everyone, and as the evening began Sifuu and her son to share a pint. From under Sifuu and Hassian's table the glint of intelligent plumehound eyes shown. They watched Reth hopefully. Reth smirked and reached under the counter. He pulled out a couple pieces of jerky. With practiced ease he flipped them from the counter straight under the table to the plumehound happily awaiting delivery. Tau couldn't help himself and the thump of his tail wagging gave Reth away. Hassian looked under the table.

"Tau? What are you eating?" He checked the floor. Tau quickly looked away as if to hide his guilt and as Hassian looked over his shoulder Reth spun leaning his back against the counter and covering his mouth to quiet the laugh trying to creep out. Someone cleared their throat and Reth turned rubbing his neck expecting an ass chewing from Hassian only to be shocked by a small human female. She had fire red hair short in the back with bangs longer in the front partially covering one eye. She wore a high collared shirt and leggings that disappeared into thigh high boots that looked damn good on her. He must have froze with his mouth open because she looked confused and waved at him.

"Um hello? Ashura says I could get a bowl of soup from you. I just got to town and don't have anything on me. "

She had a beautiful voice and the shudder it caused to shoot thru his body knocked him into motion. "Oh yes!? I'm the chef, I've got the best soup around! Names Reth. " he flashed a wink " and you are? " he offered his hand to shake. She slipped her hand into his and again he felt something flutter thru him. Her hand fit nicely in his and she gave a strong shake.

"DaeCara Yuy. You can just call me Dae tho."

He smirked, " beautiful name for a beautiful lady DaeCara Yuy." He enjoyed the way her name rolled off his tongue. It almost tasted sweet and spicy.

She didn't appear phased by his flirting and smiled back " Dae is just fine really."

"Reth cut out the flirting and get the poor woman some food would you!? " Ashura called from across the room.

Reth only a lil reluctantly released her hand and turned to head back into the kitchen to get her some food saying over his shoulder. " Sorry but I don't think I can call you that. "

Reth reappeared only a few moments later carrying a tray with a bowl of creamy mushroom soup and a half a baguette he had slipped on under a napkin. She was quick and spotted the concealed bread.

"Uh I don't have anyway to pay for that." She pointed at the bread.

Without breaking eye contact Reth pushed the tray into her hands. " pay me with that beautiful smile of yours gorgeous, Ashura is watching." He spun her away from the counter and gave her the slightest push away. He could feel Ashura watching a moment longer before he was interrupted and turned his attention. To a customer. Reth sighed. He really had to quit doing that. He fished around in his apron pulling a couple coins from his pocket. He cashed the register and slid the coins in quickly to pay for the bread. A Chuckle sounded next to him and he glanced over the counter at Zeki the store shop owner smirking at him. His gold tooth showing with his crooked smile.

"Never gonna make any money giving it away all the time buddy boy. " the short rotund well dressed gramalkin continued, " but who am I to tell you where to use your earnings. I have another run I need for you to do tonight."
