Two months later it was her Mother and Fathers annual spring ball, this event was important to her cause she was a big part of managing the decorations especially the flowers and candles that would decorate all corners of the ball room. Her job was to create a romantic and festive atmosphere. A live orchestra would provide music for dancing, playing waltzes, and quadrilles, all these affairs were managed by her mother Evelyn Elizabeth Leverat. The annual spring ball would be a glamorous affair, filled with elegance, refinement, and the spirit of celebration. Guests would arrive in elaborate attire, with ladies wearing elegant ball gowns adorned with lace, ribbons, and jewels, and gentlemen dressed in formal tailcoats and waistcoats.
Throughout the evening, guests mingled, exchanging pleasantries, and engaged in lively conversation. Refreshments such as champagne, fine wines, and delicate hors d'oeuvres would be served to the attendees. Ida was amidst the elegant swirl of dancers and the soft strains of music, she stood unbothered, observing the lively scene with a quiet grace. Decorated in a gown with cream pink silk adorned with delicate lace of blues and vibrant greens, her long black wavy hair coming over her shoulder. Finding solace in the beauty of the spring ball and the fleeting moments of human connection it offered.
Her mind remembered what had happened with Costello two months ago, and she couldn't feel anything but guilty for her harsh actions towards his care. She wanted to apologize to him and tend to the wound she had caused but whether it was her pride or fear of his possible rejection to her apology she hadn't.Ida's eyes, the color of crystal pale ice, swept over the dance floor, taking in the fluid movements of couples as they glided across the polished marble. She watched with a mixture of fascination and amusement, noting the intricate footwork and graceful gestures that characterized each dance. Occasionally, her gaze lingered on certain pairs, catching snippets of conversation and laughter that drifted through the air. She was observing the subtle display of emotions—joy, flirtation, perhaps even a hint of longing—as guests exchanged pleasantries and shared intimate moments in the dimly lit corners of the ballroom. Her Uncle interrupting her train of thought asked her if she wanted to meet someone. Following her Uncle blindly to a different section of the ballroom not fully paying attention to where her Uncle was going. He stopped abruptly moving aside to show a gentleman in an off white gray button up with a vest littered in deep red velvet embroidery decorating it, her eyes finally focusing on the man,
the man from the play.
Finally seeing him so closely and in such a state of importance made her heart seem to stop and blood run cold. He seemed to get more and more handsome the more she looked at his features so up close his arms were basically on display and his oval shaped face with such strong features, his dark hair falling down his neck but brushed out of his face enough to see his eyes. They were the most attractive shade of deep blue she'd ever seen
"Ida this is Fredrick Newton, he is from the midwest I invited him here because i thought you might enjoy a conversation with the main actor that you were so moved by 6 months ago"
Ida was at a loss for words; she felt so overwhelmed and disgusted by who was in front of her but she couldn't stop looking at him and feeling a connection. She didn't even say anything, not a peep. Continuing to stare blankly at him,"Good evening" he said followed by a charming smile,
"My niece worked long and hard with the decoration of the ball to make it look so much like a flower garden"
"Ooh, how impressive" he looked around taking a step closer, his flirtatious smile seeming too grow,
"Thank you for your hard work. I promise it does not go unnoticed". Fredrick without warning reached out grabbing her hand posseivly placing a kiss on the top. Her body tensed up as a shiver ran up her arm. She inhaled sharply at the unwanted connection. She kept her stoned face the best she could, staring him in the eyes. She gently yanked back her hand in a swift motion, taking a step back.
