Two Weeks Later

Brendon's P.O.V

Things seemed to get more and more dreary as time passed. My drinking had gotten worse and so has my temper. I'm slowly going insane and it's killing me. I couldn't handle it anymore.

For the first time in a long time, I was willingly going into work. I needed to get rid of all the bad habits I've developed if I wanted to get out of the state I was in. I also needed to see Richard and ask him about what happened in Miami. Ever since Amelia told me something happened, it hasn't left my mind.

I got up out of bed and headed straight to my bathroom to start getting ready. I looked in the mirror at my reflection and ran my hand over my dark facial hair. I haven't felt like dealing with the upkeep of it, so I just let it be.

After I brushed my teeth and got dressed in something comfortable, I went back into my room to put my shoes on. As I was, I looked over at Iris's things in the corner on the floor. I never messed with anything since that night I fell asleep beside them.

When I finished tying my shoes, I saw an out of place item along with her things. A small white card. I got myself off of the bed and walked over to grab it. I lifted it up to see that it was Martins business card. It must've fallen out of my pocket.

I placed the card into my jacket pocket and walked out of my bedroom door and down the stairs. Once I made it downstairs, I headed to the kitchen where Maria already was, cooking. I gave her a tight lipped smile as I walked to the coffee pot, and she gave a bright one back.

"Good morning, Mr. Urie." She smiled.
"Morning, Maria." I said as I poured myself a cup of coffee.
"I made you a small breakfast. I know you haven't been eating much, but I figured you'd need something on your stomach." Maria said.
"Thank you, that's really thoughtful." I replied.
I took my mug and went to sit down at the island where Maria had sat a plate with bacon, eggs, and toast on it.

"Anything else you need me to do today?" She asked, inching closer to me.
"Uh, I don't think so. Oh, uh, actually my laundry is piling up pretty tall. Would you mind doing that?" I asked her.
As soon as I asked her that, her smile instantly fell.
"What's wrong?" I asked her.
"Oh, nothing." She replied.
"You can tell me, it's okay." I reassured her.
"Well, it's just, my family got in this morning. And I was hoping that I could maybe have the next few days off to spend time with them?" She asked me.

I've been so wrapped up in what's been going on in my life, that I completely forgot about Maria's family coming. I felt like such a douchebag.
"Of course you can, take all the time you need." I said to her before taking a sip of my coffee.
"Really?! Thank you!" Maria said while embracing me in a tight hug.
"It's no problem. You enjoy your time with your family." I replied.

After she said 'thank you' about ten more times, she left the kitchen and I heard the front door open and close. I finished the rest of the food and put the plate into the sink then left the kitchen myself.
