The crowd around them scream in joy as fist hits flesh with blood flying everywhere.
Adrenaline pumped through his veins like no tomorrow. His eyes focused on the man in front of him. His muscles were covered in sweat. The odor of rage stimulated his spirit. His hands were shaking but he isn’t going to deter, he is not going to bend. His opponent let his teeth show, grinning like a mischievous devil. The fighter does the same yet his grin shows courage and determination. The two find themselves in a square ring, lights and cameras point at them as they continue their fight. His opponent tells him to quit while he has time, if they continue then things will change for both. The fighter does not listen, he simply shakes his head and raises his fists.
They both go around a circle, waiting for the other to take action. His opponent goes for a strike but the fighter dodges. The circle gets smaller. Their feet move with precision, going forward or backward. The fighter closes the space, delivering hits to his opponent. His fists hit his abdomen then the face. The crowd explodes, excited with such action. His opponent hits back, landing a hit in his abdomen. The fighter steps back, giving himself enough space to recover. A bell then rings. Both fighters stop and go to their respective corners.
The fighter spits in a bucket. His eyes catch the color red and white object in the small red pool. His tongue felt an empty space in his lower jaw. He could hear his coach telling him things but he already knows what to do. Hit, hit, dodge. Hit, hit, dodge. He can never forget it. His eyes then went to the crowd, spotting her. His best friend, the one who he protects and the one who protects him. Her face is clean unlike his, and smelling like roses under the warm sun. Her eyes catch his, a tiny yet small smile lifts her lips. Even though they are far away, it felt like they were having a long conversation.
She told him not to do this.
He couldn’t resist.
She wants him to lose.
He wants to win.
She wants her husband back.
He wants to be a champion.
The bell rings once more. The fighter looks away from her, and stands up to finish his fight. His entire life was dedicated to fighting and nothing else. He was lucky he found her and she found him. Yet that didn’t stop him from reaching greatness. Sometimes he found it funny how a kid from California made it close to the top of the world. He just needs to win and then… he will truly be at the top.
Both opponents look at each other. Bruises, cuts, and blood are spotted in their features. The fighter has a determined fire in his eyes, his lips expressing nothing. His opponent glares, hatred and annoyance in his eyes. They close the space, and his opponent goes for a hit. He dodges, and strikes back and hits the ribs. His opponent steps, a scowl of pain he expresses. His opponent then goes forward, punching at what he can. The fighter dodges and the only thing he could see are the blurs that try to hit his face. His opponent lets out a final punch. The fighter dodges to the right and sees his victory. His left fist goes below, and with all his strength he lands an uppercut. His opponent’s head went upward, and his body soon followed to the floor. The crowd screams, astonished and excited with such finality.
The fighter raises his fists in the air, a smile twists his lips. His entire team goes around him, congratulating him. His hands then felt his prize… a black golden belt. Pictures of previous champions can be spotted with the flags of every country of the world, decorated with jewelry. His smile is bigger than before. His eyes then go to find her. He turns his head to see her but his eyes never spot her. He looks at the spot he found her… she wasn’t there anymore. His smile went away, then he looked at the belt. His smile didn’t return.
He became a champion.
