Chapter 7: Soccer From Zero

Finally, chapter 7! I know you've all been waiting for this, so here it is. I realized that I didn't make Barou a love interest, and I guess that's cause he wasn't really my type and it's hard to write a love story with the love interest being one of the characters you think is an asshole. So yeah, he'll probably be an antagonist for a while and then I might make him realize how nice Yugure is and make them friends or something. Idk, anyways enjoy!

Yugure's P.O.V. 

"Rock, paper, scissors...shoot!" 

Isagi, Bachira, Raichi and Gagamaru chose scissors while I chose rock. 

I won...? I never win at rock, paper, scissors.... Oh well.... 

"Okay, like we agreed on...first starting with Eno we'll choose the positions we want to play." Kuon explained. 

"Then I want to be a forward!" I gripped my fist. 

"For the first Bluelock selection round, the 5 teams in each wing will have a round-robin tournament." Ego said with a chart floating in his hand. "At the end of all 10 matches, the top 2 teams will remain here...and the bottom 3 will be eliminated. And all members will be forced to leave Bluelock. Upon leaving, they'll lose the right to play for the Japan National Team." 

I started to feel sad. If we lose both matches, I won't be able to represent Japan.... 

"However!" Ego shouted, startling me and making me jump. 

"Players from the 3 losing teams will have a chance for a comeback. Once all the matches are over, each team will have a "top scorer".... Whoever scores the most goals on each team...gets to move on to the next round." 

Top scorer...? 

"If there's a tie between the members of the same team we'll use a fair play point system. And whoever has the least penalty points will be the winner." Ego explained. 

But what if the tied members have the same amount of penalty points? What then? But I didn't get to ask my question because Ego went on explaining the 1st Selection. 

""My own goals" or "The team's victory".... This first selection will test your destinies as strikers!" 

"This is a battle to create soccer from zero. The first match is in 2 hours. Team Z...versus Team Z!"

(A/N: For some reason, this part wasn't in the manga, so I guess it replaced this completely different scene in the manga I'm looking at now. But I'm going to recite it from memory, 'cause this part was better than the one in the manga) 

Team Z Room 

We sat on the futons we put together to make a little group meeting area. Kuon suggested we share our weapons, like our abilities and skills. 

"My weapon's my can-do attitude!" Igarashi said with a smile. 

Bro who cares? What's that gonna do? Can you win with a positive attitude?... 

"Mine's my mid-range shot." Kunigami said, his hand resting on his knee as he sat criss-cross. 

"As far as mottos go mine would be sexy soccer." Raichi said, jabbing a thumb at himself. 

What's sexy about...that? I looked at Raichi in disgust. 

"My weapon's...dribbling." Bachira said, wobbling, then he collapsed on my lap.
