The weight of Athena's mother's callous reaction hung like a heavy fog in the air as Ezra and Athena sat in the living room of Ezra's childhood home. Ezra's jaw clenched, his frustration palpable as he struggled to process the unfairness of it all. Athena sat beside him, her expression a mix of sadness and disbelief.

"I can't believe how your mom reacted," Ezra muttered, his voice tinged with anger. "After everything we told her, she didn't even try to understand."

Athena nodded, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. "I know," she whispered, her voice choked with emotion. "I thought she would at least be supportive, but she was so cold."

Ezra's frustration boiled over, his fists clenching at his sides. "It's not fair," he growled, his voice laced with bitterness. "We're trying to do the right thing, and she just shuts us down like we're nothing."

Athena reached out, placing a gentle hand on his arm. "I know it's hard," she murmured, her voice soft and soothing. "But we can't let her get to us. We have each other, and we'll get through this together."

But Ezra was already on his feet, his anger propelling him toward the door. "I need some air," he declared, his voice tense with emotion. "I can't stay cooped up in here."

Athena watched him go, a knot of worry forming in her stomach. She knew how impulsive Ezra could be when he was upset, and she feared what might happen if he let his anger consume him.

As Ezra's hand reached for the doorknob, Athena rose from her seat, her heart pounding with urgency. "Wait," she called out, her voice trembling with emotion. "Let's talk about this. Please."

Ezra hesitated, his hand freezing in mid-air as he turned to face her. His eyes bore into hers, filled with a mixture of anger and pain. "What's there to talk about?" he snapped, his voice edged with bitterness. "Your mom made it perfectly clear how she feels. I don't need to stick around and listen to any more of her nonsense."

Athena's heart sank at Ezra's words, her own frustration bubbling to the surface. "I know you're upset," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But running away won't solve anything. Please, just talk to me. Tell me what's going on inside your head."

For a moment, Ezra wavered, his resolve faltering in the face of Athena's pleading gaze. He took a step back, his anger slowly ebbing away as he met her eyes. "I just... I don't know how to deal with this," he admitted, his voice raw with emotion. "I feel like everything's falling apart, and I don't know how to fix it."

Athena crossed the room to stand before him, her hand reaching out to gently touch his cheek. "We'll figure it out together," she whispered, her voice filled with determination. "We'll face whatever comes our way, no matter how difficult it may be. But we have to do it together."

Ezra stared at her before shaking his head, "No I can't.. I can't just stand by and do nothing, I have to change her mind or something."  He says as he lets go of her and storms out of the house.

Ezra stormed out of the house, his footsteps heavy on the pavement as he made his way to his car. The engine roared to life beneath him as he peeled out of the driveway, his mind consumed by a whirlwind of emotion.

He drove aimlessly, the streets passing in a blur as he wrestled with his thoughts. His anger simmered just below the surface, a constant companion that fueled his reckless drive. His mind raced with memories of happier times, moments spent with Athena before their world was turned upside down.

But as he drove, the streets began to blur together, the lines of reality blurring with his racing thoughts. He felt the weight of his emotions pressing down on him, suffocating him with their intensity.

And then, as he rounded a sharp corner, his tires screeched in protest, the sound echoing through the night like a warning. He fought to regain control, his heart pounding in his chest as the car skidded dangerously close to the edge of the road.

But it was too late—the car spun out of control, hurtling toward the darkness at the edge of the road.
